    question about open cans

I tend to be long winded as I want to explain everything so I'll give both the reader's digest version of my question and the word vomit version for those who don't mind reading.

Reader's Digest version - Can I "cling wrap" and vacuum pack open cans for long term storage with no ill effects, or will I open cans of snus mummies 9 months from now?

    Long winded version -
On Monday I received my first online order of 20 cans of portion snus and I am pretty excited to try them all out. As I have never had more than a can at a time and not a heavy user (like a portion or two a day...I know I have AMAZING willpower ), I have never had to store it for long period of time. I will never get through 20 cans before they all expire and dry out, so i was going to deep freeze the majority.

Since this order will probably take me a year to finish at current usage rates, I don't think i can wait to taste all the different types. So what I want to do is open each can and remove 1 or 2 portions of each (to sample), then wrap them tightly with cling film, individually vacuum seal each with my foodsaver, and store in the freezer. That's what I came up with, do you guys think it would work? Or when I go and grab a "new" can months from now, are the portions going to be shriveled up bags of snus jerky.

    Thanks,
    PM66

Vacuum packed in the freezer, they should keep just fine for ages.

This is what I plan on doing, any feedback on how it is working?

The vacuum sealing is probably the best way to preserve open, or unopened cans of snus. I don't have a vacuum sealer, but I've had good results simply putting open cans in an ordinary zip-lock bag. Some have been in the freezer for a year and are still palatable.

Should get a vacuum sealer anyway, really great for food in the freezer, and they are not bad on the price now. First one I got was over $300, now you can get one for under $100.

Regarding vacuum sealers, they are greate for long term storage of snus, they will last for at least a year without frostbite.

Ive been using loose snus for 36 yrs now, and when the Swedish goverment shockraised the taxes for Tobacco i started to make my own snus with very good
            result and its pretty easy.
