Röda hands down! Bwaahhh! I love it!
I'm still new to lös, but Phantom Classic Blue is great and sticks together very well, Xobeloot can give you details, that's his poison. I could use Röda Lacket exclusively, it took me several months, but I have found my favorite snus. Probe has a weid pseudo Whiskey flavor that some find disagreeable, but i like it and it bakes decently. I was really saying some nasty things about Göteborgs Prima Fint, but I let it rest for a week and now I'm loving it, also bakes pretty well. I'm glad to hear about the longcut, I sometimes use a tight wad of Grizzly or RedMan and I find once you get it up there, it stays together decent in a tight ball for an American tobacco. I always hated American chew, but upper-lipping is the key to full enjoyment with much less juice IMO.
btw:Prismaster tools are dirt cheap, you can get 2 for the price of a can and they work well if you pack 'em tight.

I agree with pony. RL, Phantom, Offroad all bake well. I would imagine you'd have a tough time properly "baking" Offroad Long Cut. It's cut just like dip. When I upper deck some Grizz WG or Red Man, I just take a small pinch, stick it up top, and poke the loose strands up there with my tongue. Your lip and gum will kind of tangle it up into a lump and it should stay put pretty well.
Personally, I lower lip Offroad Long Cut.
Worst bakers so far: GUSTAVUS, Ettan wasn't the easiest (although it sticks together fairly well once baked) and for a new baker General is not an easy bake (even though I love it SO)

Honestly, the only snus I have ever had an issue hand-baking is gotlands yellow.
To repeat what others have said, Phantom, Offroad, RL all bake well.
Others that bake quite easliy are Prima Fint and Grov.
Personally, I use my Icetool 99% of the time, but learning how to hand-bake is a great thing to do

The only snus that I had difficulty hand-baking was Skruf stark when I first started. I think that playing with a lot of play-dough as a kid strengthens the coordination used in baking. My pris with most course snus comes out kind of like a cylinder with a couple of flat edges. With Roda Lacket I usually make a perfect cylinder or sometimes a little ball if I'm not doing a farmer.
For learning how to bake, what worked for me was doing a couple pris of Roda Lacket and then working with General. I guess just play with it until you find a style that works for you. I find that pressing down towards the palm with my pointer, ring, and thumb and then flipping it over and doing that repeatedly works well, while tidying up the ends every once in a bit.
So Xobe, if you're good at handbaking why do you use an icetool? I'm curious, is it a lot quicker, more convenient for work, or something similar? If so, I might want to try it. I found that I haven't used my prismaster since my first couple of pris, so I'm wondering if the icetool is that different.

mercvrivs: the icetool and the prismaster are worlds apart IMO. I found with the prismaster that I could pack extremely tight pris with not much effort. OTOH, I find that with the icetool, the pris only gets so tight, and the center stays relatively loose no matter what. It has a slightly firmer feel than a farmer with the added convenience of clean fingernails and a clean shape that fits that groove in the top of your gum quite well. The pris squishes into the form of your gum rather quickly, and the pris starts juicing quickly (maybe 5 min?).
I like it, although I still handbake or farmer a couple pinches a day.
I guess I don't want to get rusty. I don't know. I highly recommend an icetool if you have a job that isn't conducive to having slightly stained hands.

"I luh me sum Röda!!" but Airwoodstock sent me a can of Skruf stark lös, it's surprisingly easy to bake when it's cold and fresh[so far my only experiences with it] I haven't used my Prismasters too much, as I use lös only when I have leisure time at home, or in the car headed somewhere other than work. I find handbaking makes the whole lössnus experience much more enjoyable for me.

Someone posted a video of a guy doing a farmer pinch of rL a while back, and I stole his technique of holding the can in one hand and pulling the lid off, but holding the lid inside facing away from you between the ring and pinkie fingers which leaves the forefingers free to pinch and shape a bit, and then you just turn your hand over and drop the lid back on. Putting in the pris puts your hand in the perfect position to reapply the lid one handed.

As far as RL goes, I like it mixed with a little Monte. Monte for the flavor, RL for the texture and awesome pris. Together, it's like chocolate and peanut butter! :P

I'll say I don't do a real farmer pinch, I bake it a bit in the can first, just to stick it to itself. I do get stuff in my fingernails usually, and the pris sucks at first, but as it gets wet, it'll tighten up. I know that doesn't seem to make sense, but it does.
Oh, and Grizz WG is the SH!T

by GuestI have been meaning to post something like this for a while. It seems that many if not most of the folks hear are x-smokers. I applaud you all in your efforts to become smoke free. However, I have come to snus by a different rout and so I want to share my experiences with all those x-dippers who may be looking at this site for suggestions and direction to get started.
So quiet in the pound while I go over this and no pissing on the floor. ...-
