    Skruf Stark Loose Trick

I wanted to share something that I've found useful when using Skruf Stark loose, which is pretty much the only loose I use. Maybe it works for other loose snus as well.

When I finish a can, I keep the can. I take a new, full can from the freezer, open it up immediately (it doesn't work if it thaws), pop out the entire puck of snus (turn it upside down, give it a couple solid thumps so that it comes out on the lid when the lid is opened), break it into quarters, keep two quarters in the old can and two in the new one.

What this does for me is help me break off small pieces from the main pieces and stuff those in my lip instead of the longer, messier version of baking, especially when a can is just opened and getting a good pinch is difficult. And what you get is comparable to something between a prilla and a bonde, which for me allows the flavor and nicotine to do their thing quicker.

    Enjoy!

    I'm gonna try that.

    One question.

Do you break off what your gonna use before or after it thaws?

I get the breaking it while it's frozen to put half away for later.
    Good advice.

I break off what I'm going to use when I'm about to use it (e.g., fresh from the fridge, or during the night if it's been sitting out). It does tend to crumble slightly, and a little bit of shaping with the fingertips can be necessary, but I find it makes my life so much easier.

So, I'm confused. Are you putting frozen los in your lip, or are you just saying it's easier to pinch from a half emptied can?

The latter. I'll carefully pick up one of the quarter pieces and break off a pinch, which usually requires minimal forming, if any, with the fingertips before inserting it in my lip.

I just popped in my first pris of Skruf stark lös, acquired in a trade by mail. I'm loving it and really surprised that at least, when cold, it seems to bake every bit as easily as Röda, Probe and Phantom Blue. I'm definitely a fan, and now using lös at home, almost exclusively and various portion stuff anywhere else.

I find that Skruf stark tends to leave more residue on my hand than General or Roda Lacket. However, it leaves less than Gotlandssnus, which I think has more moisture. I usually do Skruf los one pris per day, right when I wake up. The bitter bergamot and rose I now associate with waking up to enjoy a new day. It's soothing but you can also feel the nicotine entering your bloodstream. This was actually the first los I tried. Not my favorite, but it's well-rounded and has a good nicotine kick. Glad it comes in a plastic can though, that always is a nice touch.

Anyone else wonder why the can looks so sanitized and clean when the name is "Skruf?" Maybe it's the rose flavour...

I love the snus but hate the design of their products. White with magenta or lime detail and boring-ass Helvetica font to me does not represent what's inside the can. I remember first seeing it at BuySnus and thinking it was awful, and then falling in love with the snus and thinking, "Oh man, why did it have to be that can?"

Maybe when they come out with Skruf Extra-Crack they'll change the design.

The packaging is what I like about their products. I'm not that crazy about the snus :^P

I think it looks typically Scandinavian, with a stark minimalistic design.

"...with a stark minimalistic design." Pun intended? lol

Clearly it's a matter of taste. The Skruf can looks to me like a second-rate, wannabe-trendy, fly-by-night soap boutique.

LoL! I guess I'm a little slow. I didn't see the connection until you pointed it out :^D

I was originally drawn to skruf because of the (I felt) modern looking can. I've never been one for flashy packaging or huge brand labels...just tell me what's inside and let me make up my mind.

The flavor IS good, but I found that much nic at once gives me a headache and cotton mouth. I've pretty much left it alone, but there is a can or two in my freezer for emergency use...maybe I should fashion a glass "In case of emergency..." holder with a little hammer on a chain.

Also, I heard that it's named Skruf after the city in which it was originated; I don't know how much truth is in that story, but that's what I've heard...

Great idea - I just did this with my Stark. I have a few tins of dried up snus in the fridge, don't want that to happen to my Stark!

lol i don't even form skruf stark anyway. i just take a pinch and stuff it in my upper lip. knox i couldn't do that though it would turn into mud quicker.

i need to try other looses.
