    Is it ok to...?

I just got my order from northerner today and I am pretty happy. I got a decent variety and want to try them all. I don't want to open all of them and have to many open cans in the fridge. Could I open one I want to try and then freeze whats left in the tin till a later time? I am mainly looking to try them so I can figure out what I like and order rolls at a time so I'm not spending money on shipping all the time.

By the way the General Onyx was like putting a little piece of heaven in my mouth. I love the taste and the portion fits perfectly. Is general sterk almost the same?

I also tried los for the first time. It was the Nordrommen dark vanillia and I really liked it and the pris my custom tool made was awesome. Had it in for an hour and no mudslide.

As far as the open cans go, i have about 8 open cans in my fridge, 2 loose and 6 portion, im not to knowledgeable on the loose, but i know the portions last a decent while in the fridge, and since i chain snus, i go through a can in about 1.5 - 2 days. they'll last at least until their expiration ddate in the fridge, and a lot longer in the freezer

it seems the common practice is to freeze what's unopened, and what's it's opened, keep it in the fridge. I've followed that practice, but I'm not sure why one ought not keep opened cans in the freezer besides the fact that they freeze.

The best bet is to keep the unopened in the freezer, and the opened in the fridge. It's best to only freeze it once, and thaw it only when you're gonna use it, cuz freezing and thawing it over and over will kill some of the moisture

How long will snus keep in the freezer, and how will it affect the flavor?

I do have a can of Julesnus that is open in the freezer. I only have a hankering for it once in awhile and I grab the can, pull out one portion, and replace the can in the freezer. I keep that can in a freezer bag with my other cans and have detected no harm to the snus thus far.

Aside from that, I follow the pattern of keeping unopened cans in the freezer and open cans in the refrigerator. I have not found snus to be as fragile as I first believed it was. I have had original portion cans that have made 10+ all day trips to work (unrefrigerated) and the last portion was still fine. I do return my cans to the refrigerator when I get home.

I usually try to keep only two cans of snus in the fridge at one time. One regular portion and one stark. Sometimes I get bored with one of them and grab a different can from the freezer to steal a portion from and it always goes back in right away. No change in flavor or quality, but I also keep my frozen cans double bagged with freezer bags and I also suck the air out before i seal them.

I never freeze my snus. Just toss it in the fridge and run with it. Have never had a can go bad on me. Some of the cans are nearing a year old and still taste fine.

And here I am vacuum sealing and freezing my snus stash. I guess everyone has their own way of doing things. I just wasn't sure how long this stuff stayed good. Thanks guys for your help. So I guess it wont hurt to try it out and throw it back in the freezer.

I can confirm that snus keeps OK in the freezer for well over a year - but for me - the snus gets that freezer flavour that some frozen foods get with increasing time.

I've come to the conclusion that it's worth ordering a few rolls that you'll freeze as a back up - but order less more often and enjoy the fresh taste. Snus seems to keep well in the fridge and I think it keeps quite well (a week or two) out of the fridge but it is winter here so it's cold anyway.

Fridge works great. I tried the freezer and yeah it works great as well, but i found no difference between the two. So i bought my own fridge dedicated to snus. I had 10 open tins of loose in there at one point, never did go bad. Had a tin of portions for close to 6 months in the fridge they were a bit drier than a fresh tin but not bad. You can always re-hydrate your snus with no ill effects (if you are worried about dry snus).

Its just tobacco salt and water should last a very long time.

I have never frozen my snus. I have always just keep my tins in the fridge inside a ziplock bag, in the "crisper" drawer. Never have had a problem yet. That said. I don't have much more that 10-12 tins on hand at any time.

That's good common sense, I hadn't thought of that, thanks deebo
