    Handbaking Montecristo.

Ok, so I got this montecristo los... And I can't bake it. No I don't have a prismaster or an ice tool, and yes this is my first los.

This shit doesn't stick together it just crumbles when i apply any pressure whatsoever. I mean i can get it to stick somewhat, then it just turns to mud in my mouth. Really turning me off to los.

Try a different los. Monte was a pain to bake for me too. I even had a Prismaster. Phantom, Ettan and Gus were all much easier to deal with. Monte is a pretty fine grind and seems to be less moist than most los.

I think you started with a tough snus to try out as your first los. From what I understand, something that fine grind takes either a lot of practice or a tool.

          Just adding my $.02,

If you want a snus that is easy to handbake, this isn't it. I think there's less propylene glycol and the grind is coarse(finer than Grov but it doesn't stick together like Grov). Handbaking takes a little bit of skill. At the same time though, I love the mouth feel and the taste it delivers, so for me I wouldn't change a thing.

Get yourself a syringe from the drug store. They're cheap as hell, and it'll make the process much easier for you. Get the 3ml size.

I wasn't complaining, it was more of a warning. I have a 3ml syringe and tried that already. I do a lot better by handbaking. 8) My technique is a little different. I don't use the palm of my hand, I do it all between my thumbs and forefingers and shape the prilla over the can.

I don't know about expert, but the 2 easiest for baking are Röda, and Prima. For ease of baking, and lack of mudslides for a newb, I'd say Phantom. It's easy to bake, and it's very easy to keep together. I usually spit it out in 1 big chunk with very few stragglers to deal with, and I don't think it could ever run.

My phantom's running at the moment, but I think that's because I tried someone's suggestion of placing the prilla slightly farther back than normal. Usual spot, phantom will hold up for a solid hour at least.
