    Hillbilly Pinch and Place.......

    and when to use it.

I notice some new users are asking about this and I wanted to elaborate a bit.

I love my icetool because of the shape it makes and how well it fits.... however, some snus has such subtle flavors that such a tightly packd pris doesnt allow these flavors to come through.

One thing about using this method is it really teaches you not to mess with the pris.

Itll feel like mud and some people will just probably spit it out thinking theyve done something wrong and try again.

Snus tools and great hand baking spoils some of us. ( Myself included ) but when I have a certain snus like Gotlands Gul or Goteborgs Rape just taking a pinch and placing it under the lip really allows those flavors to come through.

The pris will ast just as long, at least for me it does when compared to the icetool, but I definately wouldnt smile while using this method.

Just my take on the method.

I use it and my snus tools all the time, but all new snus users try it at least a few times to see how flavor charcteristics change.

I think I'll try this out tonight with the Gotlands Julesnus I have. I've noticed that the only time I can get a lot of flavor when I handbake is when it starts to break up a bit.

At first I didn't like when it broke up cause of the snus particles that end up in my mouth but I really don't mind swallowing the little bit that breaks up now.

    We shall see.
I'll report back here with results!

Today I am trying los for my first time ever. This morning I my poured my cup of coffee, took a sip, and then opened my can of General Los. I took a couple of pinches and threw them in the upper lip. The feeling on my gum's is awesome. I am having a hard time keeping myself from poking the pris with my tongue, but I am going on 20mins with no mud mouth. This is heaven. I don't know if I am a convert yet, but I am really enjoying los. I can't believe I waited so long to try it. I have been using portion snus for atleast a year now.

Update: Finished my very first pris of General Los ever, using the the "hillbilly" method. Made it 60 minutes with no "mud mouth". The only problem is now I want another one.

Well, this is not specifically targeted at you, MN_Snuser, but I generally never understood, why so many people wait so long to try every type of snus or even never try some types. My first order only was 5 cans and not too expensive, but it contained lös, original portion, white portion, mini portion, high-nic-snus, normal-strenth snus, low-nic-snus, traditional stuff, modern stuff, non-flavored snus, heavily flavored snus, snus for candy-loving "kids", snus for "rednecks", best-selling snus, snus that nobody liked on the forums but sounded interesting to me from the flavor-description, women-snus(!), men-snus, snus that ex-smokers seemed to like, snus that ex-dippers seemed to like, snus that long-time snusers seemed to like...

I simply didn't know what I would like and if snus was the right thing for me in the first place, since I came to snus from smoking, so I thought that it's the best to try a variety that is as wide-ranged as possible and not too expensive.

          My first order was:
          - General Original Mini
          - Skruf Stark Portion
          - Ettan Lös
          - Probe Whiskey Lös
          - Röda Lacket White Portions

Not to mention that my first order also included a pack of Oliver Twist Original chewing tobacco bits, which I still use in addition to several snus-brands. They needed some heavy getting used to but they helped me when snus started to get a little boring, taste-wise, after about 4 weeks. And BTW, If I hadn't already known nasal snuff, I also would have tried that.

No, this is not another "rate my first order-posting", this order was in 2006 and it simply worked for me for finding what I do like and what I do not like and yeah, I was a nonsmoker long before the order was used up.

Strangely, the types of snus that many newbies seem to prefer in the meaning that they don't order anything else - for what reason ever - namely whites and minis were the ones I liked least. The minis didn't give enough nicotine and the whites heavily irritated my gums and burned terribly for some days. I also had to struggle with the lös for the first days, no doubt, but I liked it better than white portions and minis from the beginning.

I can only recommend to everyone who is totally new to snus, to include as many types as possible in the first order, even 5 cans are enough to do so. At least I may have never become a snuser and would possibly still be smoking cigarettes, if I had only included white (mini) portions in my first order, what many newbies strangely seem to do.

Edit: I just saw that the post is about the hillbilly pinch and not about nebwie-orders or lössnus. Well, I try to "bake" the snus every time and have never really tried the hillbilly-method but sometimes my prillas really look more like a pinch. By coincidence, the prilla of Ettan that I have under my lip right now, somehow crumbled apart when I put it in my mouth, so I had to adjust it heavily with my tongue, which worked as always. The prilla is now 1.5 hours old and I'll probably use it for another hour, no problem! Yeah, don't be afraid to use your tongue is my humble advice for all the "hillbilly-pinchers" out there.

          Cheers!

One problem with the hillbilly method. Snusy fingernails.

I have a pet peeve about dirty fingernails.

A nice loosely packed 5ml icetool gives me the same effect with less mess.
