    Cant taste flavors as well

Hi newbie snuser here. First post . I've been snusing for about 2 weeks now and for the last 2 days the flavors of my favorites (skruf stark loose, grovsnus black portion and ettan los) just arent coming through. I've been keeping them in the fridge exclusively and been mixing it up with some other kinds of snus. Any one else every experience this ? or any Ideas as to whats going on ?

Welcome to the forum. I really have only one thought, if you are an ex smoker, smoking affects the taste buds and sense of smell. So if you are an ex smoker your senses may be adjusting, which is changing how you perceive the snus.

Or you got that special lot of snus that just loses all it's flavor overnight.

      Welcome to Snuson elespectrol.

One factor is your tastes in snus will move around dramatically in the first few months you use. What you once liked, you suddenly won't. And other snus you thought tasted bad will suddenly taste good. This process will continue even after it isn't new, but at a slightly slower pace.

So I doubt anything is up with you, just the way of the snus. Keep trying new flavors. And perhaps most importantly, don't overuse the ones you like. I have found that if I use any snus too often, the taste turns on me.

      And again, welcome.

Welcome elespectrol . As far as I know, using snus does not impaire your sense of taste. Smoking, as TBD eloquently points out, WILL. Maybe your buds are just adjusting to new flavours. like sage points out, your taste in snus definitely does change.

I have a question: when was the last time you smoked?

Keep yourself hydrated also. A dry mouth will mute flavors, and the salt in snus will exacerbate that tendency. Water's the best thing to drink. Keep a glass next to yourself, and take frequent sips.

Welcome to Snusing, it's the shit!! I personally take 4 tins of different snus with me to work everyday, to prevent using the same snus all day long. I like to mix it up and am finding that some snuses actually compliment one another. Try mixing it up a bit. Drinking lots of water is key. I'm a heavy coffee drinker throught the day, at least three pots of the strong stuff, so I drink TONS of water also. To prevent dehydration, because the salt will contribute to the process of dehydration as lxskllr said.

One of the threads on this forum or another discusses good drink and snus combinations to try. I have found that raspberry green tea goes really well with most of my favorites. I like it because this particular brand of tea doesn't have caffeine, so it doesn't aid in the dehydration process.

                Welcome elespectrol!

Have you noticed a change in the way you feel about some of your favorite foods??

Some foods that I loved, like chocolate, I just can't stand anymore
I had chocolate chip ice cream for the first time in a month since I quit smoking, OMG it was so sweet and almost nasty

I'm thinking that it's probably the salt in snus and my tastes buds changing, that makes me not crave, or even like sweets.

                For me, that's a good thing = )

I'm curious how all you quiters on here feel about food?

Sorry I didn't clarify, lol ops: The taste, I lost my love for black licorice. It was the only sweet that I still craved and now it's gone.
My taste buds are totally our of order.

Did you guys have any extreme issues with certain foods when you quite smoking???

To be honest I just started to enjoy eating a whole lot more. Your sense of taste will become more acute. Maybe the 'real' you doesn't like the sweetness of liquorice. Have you got some other snuses that you still like?

It's not just liquorice, it's all sweets, and this is really a shock because I was a sweet eating fool. In the past, I would have substituted a piece of cake or a pint of ice cream for a meal.
I smoked vanilla flavored tobacco and I still love vanilla.

All my favorite snus are listed in my signature. All still yummy = )

I really didn't notice any change whatsoever switching to snus. My sense of smell got better, but that's about it(and a double edged sword at that :^P)
