    Moisture

Here's a question. What's a good way to keep snus moist while refrigerated? I'm using more loose now than I ever had, and it seems to dry out within days, even while refrigerated. I seem to recall someone saying that they kept a little piece of fruit in the tin and that helped keep it moist.

    Any suggestions?

I put a dash of whiskey in my loose snus when it gets that "not so fresh feeling."

I keep mine in freezer bags even in the fridge. Haven't had issues with it drying out. The plastic tubs (like Skruf) don't seem to dry out either way.

For Snus that's already a bit dry, I would bet a chunk of carrot would work well if you wanted something without flavor.

I have not had this problem yet and seem to always have at least 6 cans of los open at a time in the fridges. If one did get dry I would put a piece of apple in it. The carrot idea is good tho, maybe I would do that. Let us know how it goes.

I have a couple peanut butter jars that are perfect
Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter - get the large 26 ounce size. They are glass with the metal screw on lid.

Each jar holds 6 tins of snus, the size is perfect. (Height and width.)
It's moistureproof. You'll see the trapped moisture as condensation on the inside walls of the jar. I have 12 open cans that I use in rotation and they stay as moist as the day I opened them.

            Sounds like a plan.

Everyone else, thanks for the suggestions. I tried the apple and carrot before. The apple alters the flavor too much and the carrot seems to accomplish little. Whiskey sounds tempting, but I'd hate to take a chance on screwing up the natural flavor. Now, if I ever try whiskey flavored snus, I'll give it a shot.

I'm thinking it was pomegranate or tangerine that someone suggested once as something that wouldn't alter the flavor and keep moisture in, I just can't recall yet.

it's too small to make out or read.

I made it with the Atari Label Maker (and no, sorry to disappoint, but that's NOT me in the photo):

a slice of potato may work better than carrot, my lös isn't dry after a couple weeks, but I have my tins in the fridge in the closed butter tray.

I'm not a los person generally, but I just decided to check on an open tin in my freezer (general los) and try to hand bake it and use it. It worked fine, and it expired in Aug of 08 (I opened it a long time before that ). What can I say, los lasts a long time around my house . So with that, and since I haven't had any trouble with previous los tins that probably lasted around the same length of time, I'd say freezer it even if it's open and it'll be OK.

Just to be clear, the criteria I used is if it hand baked well and didn't seem dried out, I called that a success.

Maybe a piece of celery? It's mostly water so that may do the trick. I haven't had this issue yet but my oldest can is less than a week old, plus I keep it in a freezer bag in the fridge. I dunno, just a thought.

When my loose snus drys up, I add a very small amount of water straight from the faucet. After that, I pack the can in all directions to distribute the moisture evenly. If you add too much water, your snus will be too muddy and will spread all over your mouth.
