    Loose more flavorful than portions?

    Hey All,

I'm new to snus and the forum.

Thanks to all the great info on this forum I haven't had to ask too many questions, but I've got a quick one.

Picked up my first order from a local tobacco shop. All they carried was General so I grabbed a can of the Los, white portion, wintergreen portion, and dry mini mint portion.

I had been using the mini portion at work, and alternating between the other portions. I just got chance to try the los this weekend. Much better than I expected. Baked easily, didn't fall apart in my mouth, and tasted great. The only thing that surprised me was the intensity of the flavor. I was under the assumption that the loose would be more flavorful than the portions but I found the opposite.

The flavor was much more subtle. I baked an average size pris and placed it in my upper lip and left it. I didn't squeeze it or flick it with my tongue. Is this normal or did I bake it too firm? Or are the portions more flavorful because I usually squeeze the juice out of them?

I just ordered 5 cans (6 if you count the mystery can) all portions. I want to order some more loose because I really like baking the pris, and it's easier on my gums. Before I do I want to make sure I can get that flavor out of it. Any suggestions? Is it just the General or what?

    Thanks in advance!

I haven't tried los yet, but found your post really interesting. I assumed, like you, that los would have much more flavor. Well, I'll have an order of general los in my next order, and see for myself.

This is a big reason I only use portions. I have always found much more flavor with portions, especially as I can play with the portions and squeeze any flavor I want out of them.

Lös flavor is mellower, but it lasts longer. I've never spit lös out that didn't still taste good(4 hours +). I just get tired of it being in my mouth.

I usually swish some saliva around the tobacco after I put it in (sounds gross, but it works). The added moisture will make the nicotine act faster and release more juices. However, the flavor of loose is still more mellow than portions (which I prefer).

            I feel exactly the same.

Ok, so I'm starting to like the loose much more than the portions.

Any advice for using it at work. I have people in and out of my office all day. I can hide the mini portions w/o a problem but I can't have snus in my teeth when talking to my employes and and customers. Will using an ice tool or pris master make a small/firm enough pris to hide?

I can't speak for the Icetool but a Prismaster definitely won't make the pris hideable. If discreetness is an issue, I would stick to minis. Loose only for home and, perhaps, social environs.

A 3ml IceTool might work well. It'll still take practice, but after awhile you can use that invisibly.
