    Snus-BLOCKED on Delta flight

So I was on a Delta flight this morning from ORD to JFK, and one of the flight attendants was sitting behind me. I went to grab a Gborgs No. 2, and she tapped me on the shoulder and told me I couldn't do it.

I had joked with my wife about that possibility, since they had mentioned that "no tobacco products" could be used, but figured since it's basically, from an external perspective, the same as chewing gum, it couldn't be prohibited.

    But it was.

Of course, as soon as the threat was gone, I popped in a portion. Of course x 2, it started juicing intensely right as the FA came back and sat behind me, so I couldn't ditch it until I was off the plane.

In any case, I would avoid flying Delta as this would be completely unacceptable and unavoidable on a 5+ hour flight...

I have not run into this problem on any of my flights yet and I hope that I don't. I usually fly about twice a month for business and almost always fly US Airways. I also take a quick look around before I pop one in just to be sure no one is watching.

I have definitely had a tin of Jakobsson's Ice-Fruit on a NYC-LA Virgin America flight and been pretty blatant without any reprisal. I will test this theory out in a couple of weeks. And yes, I will remember to be sneaky...

        **** em...............SnusOn
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

          On Delta's website:

          Smoking

Delta is a smoke-free airline. Use of tobacco products is prohibited on all Delta-operated or Delta Connection carrier flights systemwide.

I love how they have that listed under "Smoking" What utter fools. On the other hand, I can imagine someone not wanting to sit beside someone using a spit bottle.

I briefly worked for a company that had a no tobacco policy as well. was there for a few days when I was called into a Manager's office and told I was not allowed to use snus. I asked if I was allowed to use tobacco gum and he said yes. I didn't bother asking him to explain the difference. I simply continued to use but made sure I was discreet.

the anti-tobacco nazis are ridiculous. **** 'em

you can thell them your tax money is paying for kids health insurance and you're doing it "for the children"

a simple trip to the bathroom would solve it.

That's insane. I've used snus on every flight I've been on since September of 2007 and nobody has bothered me about it. Then again, none of those have been Delta flights.

Even if I do fly Delta at some point in the future, nothing's going to stop me from snusing. If worst comes to worst, I'll do as justintempler suggested and take a quick trip to the bathroom.

I live in San Diego and just flew Southwest. I was more worried security would pull me aside for my snus and snuff, it turns out, they pulled me aside because of my underwire bra, lol.
I portioned my whole flight and took some snuff in the bathroom with no problems

note to self...wear a sports bra and snuff and SNUSON!!
                  don't book Delta

                      Right on!

Yeah, I'm a recent transplant to Texas, but I'm loving it. I intend to stay here for a good long time. The only things I don't like about Texas thus far are the pot laws and Houston drivers. Other than that, I love it.

Awesome video. I can't wait until the cigarette tax fails to sustain the SCHIP program and Congress decides to target something else (alcohol? fast food? legalized cannabis?).

Makes me glad I don't smoke very much anymore.

Snus is the best for situations that "prohibit" tobaco products. I have been in many situations lately that have barred me from using tobaco, but with snus I can snus anytime-anyplace. Since there is no spitting, there is no way to know. Thank goodness for snus, it's been a lifesaver!

I fly Delta frequently and have noticed the strange rule as well. I have never been caught though.
