New to Snus

Hello all I just converted to snus. Started with the Camel Frost but I am now patiently waiting for my order of real swedish snus to arrived. Hope it as good as they say it is.

My only advice for you at this point, is be patient with the snus when you first get it. Swedish snus is so different than Camel. It will taste really salty at first, and you may not like it the first time you try it. But keep using it. Within a week, your body will become acclimated to the salt, and the flavors will make much more sense.

Only other advice is be prepared for your snus tastes to keep shifting at first. So if you hate something, put it aside for a week, but do come back to it. Often, what we really disliked at first ends up as one of our favorites.

After you have tried things for a few weeks, let us know what you really liked, and we can make further recommendations from there

Damn sage...some day my introductions will be as good as yours hehe...anyways mal i completly agree. My first snus was camel frost then i thought general wintergreen was my all star favorite. I reluctantly got a can of the Original General because it came SO well recommended by everyone. I put it in my mouth and HATED it! After about a week I was also sick with the General WG so I went back and tried the regular portion again and started to see what everyone was talking bout. Now I can honestly say my taste are developing nicely and am starting to distinguish flavors. Perhaps I will become a snus snob. lol. Enjoy your snus and be as diverse as you want.

I have just been here SO long. I know what newbies go through, and what advice they really need to make it through the initial changeover from Camel.

There are posts from me on a previous snus forum not long after Camel was first introduced trying to imagine what a user of camel would think about Swedish snus. I am from the generation that came to snus before Camel even existed. So we have been preparing for this for a long time.

Welcome Malspears! You've definately picked the right forum...there's a wealth of knowledge here. There are several excellant sources here...the only thing I can say about sage is that I've read a lot of his advice and so far he's been dead on about everything!

Thanks alot guys its good to find a forum with experienced people who gone through the trail and error. Still waiting for my package to come in until then still stuck with camel.

Just to make your life easier here's some things to do while you wait on your order:

Clear out the vegetable bin in your refrigerator.
Buy a small freezer.
Increase the limit on your charge card.
Install a bigger mail box.
Add Northerner to your bookmarks.

and remember....
Never tell Sage you're tired or he may give you advice on a Snus to try.

It's here finally

I finally got my order in and man it is a drastic change but a very good one, not sweet at all thank god and just enough salt to really bring out the tobacco flavor. I wish i had known about this stuff years ago. Already planning my second order. So i can be sure that i dont run out.

Order only consited of General Wintergreen this time(ex Skoal Wintergreen user) Any sugestions would be appreciated can't do loose though its just not kosher when i'm in uniform.

The only true dislikes i have are strong sweet fruit flavors every thing else is fine, traditional tobacco flavor is a must. As said previosly for most of my snusing i will be using portioned simply because for the better part of the day im in uniform. Im only familliar with General due to the large amount of info on that particular brand on the web and everywhere I checked it was highly recomended.

I did not fully taste snus until I quit the cigs. All the build up in my mouth from cigs jaded my taste. The other thing was in my last order I got a prissmaster. Placing snuss I think is important. Without the tool I think it is harder and messier. Now I love the stuff, My first priss of Odens stark knocked me out. Now I love it. The best part is I do it for the enjoyment Not because I have to have it like cigarettes. Thanks to snuss, I hope I will never smoke a cigarette again

(ex Skoal Wintergreen user)->General Wintergreen......so try some Thunder Frosted (Spearmint)

General Original Portion, Ettan, Skruf..... are standards
