What is all the fuss about?

Being a guy who has used American "dip" for a while, I said to myself, any kind of packaging takes away from flavor and nicotine absorption. In the snus world, I have found that nothing beats General. I hate most flavored portion snus thus far, and find that general is the most consistent and well flavored. In the world of American cigarettes, it would be the Marlboro equivalent. I knew that this would be the best one to try los with first.

It arrived from the US Northerner warehouse along with a few cans of dip and a General portion tin. (cannot beat the dip prices here!) I went through most of my dip, and Timberwolf Apple is nowhere near as good as that first free sample they sent me years ago that got me turned on to dip and off of cigarettes. (Timberwolf isn't even available in most of NJ, and so this was the first time I found apple again. Even after visiting the backwoods of PA. It sucked compared to that tin they sent me years ago.)

So enough about what I got... it is finally time to try some loose snus! I was quite nervous after reading all this info about how it falls apart, seeing that it is more finely cut than my favorite brands of dip, and seeing videos on how to "bake" properly. I grabbed a pinch that was not as large as a portion, but definitely as large as the tobacco that would be inside of it. I pinched it a little, and it didn't seem to stick together as well as I had hoped. I pinched again, and I seemed to squeeze it apart once more. I did it one more time but not as hard. I seemed to find the secret there. It formed perfectly.

I held it lightly and gently put it in my upper lip. Its now about 30 minutes later, which is more than I thought after looking at the clock. A tiny morsel or two dropped each time I made sure that it was in place with my tongue, but compared to dip, its staying there just the same, however with dip, I feel the need to dig in more to release the juice and flavor that is needed for that buzz. I do all this as I sip on my last vodka and Red Bull of the night. It is not falling down, it is not falling apart despite the different consistency, and it has been quite pleasant thus far.

Now, passing the 30 minute mark, I don't think that I can hold in place for another 15, but its been fine thus far. The nervousness that was caused by all I read was unwarranted. I could do this at work and go to a meeting as long as it didn't go past 30 minutes, no problem.

My pris was not as large as the one in the you tube video posted here, but plenty large enough. If it were any larger, it would not be as discrete as I like snus to be. There is also, nothing like eliminating a wrapping to absorb nicotine! All this fuss I have seen on here is way over-exaggerated. To think I considered buying a tool for this.

Cleaning it out, I scooped my finger in and out. It stuck to it a lot, and its a bit muddy. Not so clean on the fingers, but there are no pieces stuck in between my teeth like there would be with dip.

After thoughts, I should go to bed, but I will try another. This was cake, and I don't feel like going to bed yet, as the buzz was quite nice. Better then portions, as I expected.

Seriously, if you can shove some dip in your lower lip, you can gently push together some nice moist snus until it forms something similar to a cylinder and put it in your upper lip. I will never buy portions again.

Okay, so now I stuck another in because I figured maybe it was beginners luck or something. It formed again perfectly. I only used my fingers and not my palm like the video here. I found that putting it in is half the battle. I really had to get it up there, and I didn't this time. Unsatisfied with my lack of perfection, I started all over again. This time careful to get it up there without it falling apart. So far no worries.

Conclusion, the secret is in the size. Don't try a large pris. You won't need it if you have been trying portions, and it doesn't need to be the size of a dip. For your first time, try it at home. If you fail to get it in there properly, dispose of it and try again. It doesn't matter, as the tin has a higher product weight without even taking the portion wrapper into consideration. This tin says it weight more and there is no wrapper involved.
