Bought snus at a gas station

So i bought a tin of skruf portion at a gas station the other day, the first thing i noticed was that they were alot blacker than usual and they smelled funky (pretty rotten, lol) but i was like, what the hell, so i took about 6 of em thay day, the next day i noticed, what the hell, the expiration date is ripped off.. The whole box is gone now, it tasted funky but had the same effect.

Did i buy snus from some sleazy gas station employees here or what..

Being from the US I don't know the wonders of buying snus at the gas station.

But the expiration date being ripped of does sound suspect!

buy from northener.com you may avoid Norwegian Tax and just pay the Swedish Tax.

The reason your Snus is expensive is because of your government who set the tobacco tax.

I am in the UK so when I purchase from Northerner I pay there tobacco tax not the UK tax and EU sales tax which you would have to pay anyway as you re in the EU.

If the gas stations over there are anything like the ones here, you're lucky anything is still within the exp. date. I remember friends back a few years ago bitching because the dip they bought at gas stations was always dry and expired.

The problem I used to run into was from when I still smoked; they would take the old Camel BOGOs, split them up and sell them single at full price. You'd basically pay full price for stale cigarettes that were supposed to be free. You could tell when they did it, because the packs would still have the promo seal on them. :x

Heh, I've been an asshole enough to call RJR whenever that happened. They're quick as hell to send a rep down to the store doing that and rip them a new one.

I stopped at this store once that charged me full price on a pack of Camel filters and it had that telltale blue strip on the cellophane. I went back the next day and told the guy that they were stale and I wanted a new pack. He pretended he didn't speak English so I went home and called RJR and told them what happened. I get an actual call back two days later. Apparently this guy had been selling these at full price for quite a while and had been warned about it previously, so RJR sent a rep down there and the guy got caught in the act selling free promo packs. I never went in there again but the woman that called said that most likely he was going to lose his contract with RJR.

But yeah, I've noticed that generally if you buy oral snuff at a gas station it's going to be expired or dried out. I chalk that up to lazy clerks/managers, because all they have to do is return the expired stuff back to the warehouse and they get a credit for it. Keeping it on the shelf is just lazy.

Always check the expiration date of the different snus. The later it is, the better it tastes generally. Can be more important than brand IMO, even if its not expired.

Do any of the tobacco companies buy back snus or snuf if they can't sell it ie. Sam Adam's (or so they advertise).

Yeah all the tobacco companies do. Camel and RJR have people come in ever so often and they check all the dates. I know at the place I worked, we got shipments in 1-2 times a week, and would leave expired stuff up (dip mainly, cigarettes we never checked because they last a lot longer and go really quick) if that was all we had. Only was a problem with the unpopular products cause rotating stock is not hard, you'd have to be real lazy not to just drop the new stuff behind the current. Most customers check the date first anyway so if I knew it was a couple days past I'd tell them before I rang it up. We kept all the old unsold stuff in a store room until they eventually sent it back to get credit for it.

Buying snus at a gas station is the same thing as buying a cup of coffee at a gas station. You take your chances!
