How long out of the fridge?

So I did a search on this subject and came up with nothing useful.
I'm an utter newbie, been snusing General for three days.
I'm wondering how long I can keep my can out of the refrigerator?
It's obviously meant to be on my person, since it has the little disposal for used portions on the top of the can, but how long is safe?
I store it in the fridge every night and sometimes between breaks when at work, but that's all.
    Thanks!

    Welcome to Snuson slobandtom

Honestly, it doesn't really matter much. Much has been written here about what is optimal, and some are really good. When I first started using a few years ago, I tried to keep it in the fridge when i wasn't using, but stopped that practice long ago with NO ill effects.

Now, my strategy is really simple. I store all unopened in the freezer. I tend to keep a rather large supply sometimes and have kept some snus frozen a year after their best buy date. Swedish Match says you can store in the freezer for a year, I have gone much longer with no issues.

Snus I may use only once a day, gets kept in the refrigerator.

Snus I am just using stays with me, never again put back in the cold, and I can have 4 or 5 open at any time, so sometimes a week to finish the can? Even a bit longer and it is fine.

So.....all this to say just don't stress it. Some love the taste when it's cold. that you? then keep it in the fridge when you remember. But other than that, there is no reason to put a snus you are working through away.

And again, welcome. Please feel free to ask ANYTHING. What Snuson is here for!!

I've slowed down quite a bit on my snusing lately and a can of frosted I've been on has been out for almost three weeks. Still yummy. Some may be more sensitive, but I'd sat at least a couple weeks.

Roughly 2/3 of the tins I open never make it back to the fridge. I have never had a problem; I've even left los out for up to a week at a time, although I don't really recommend it. Portions, no problem.

They DO taste better chilled though, IMHO.

That's my thing. I much prefer my snus chilled, and I keep it cool as much as practical. If I can't keep it cool for some reason, I don't worry about it. I put it in the fridge when I get the chance.

            Cool, thanks!
That allays my fears of opening my can one day and finding it rotten.

Shouldn't be no problems with portions, but if you leave snus for a longer time to room-temperature, oh god it sucks. :P And yeah, snus is something very good when chilled.

I had some Grov in my desk drawer at work that I was using for two weeks. The only thing I noticed about it was toward the end it was smelling pretty strong. Still tasted ok though.

I only have 4 cans as I write this, and I have one here at work with me, but I keep the others, all opened, in the freezer. Is this OK? I use the freezer as it's easier, as the fridge part is full and messy, and the freezer is about empty.

I use the butter/cheese compartment on the door of my fridge for my open ones.
We don't by block cheese and our butter comes in a large tub.

                    Great place for it!!!

If you just leave the open in the freezer, I don't see a huge problem, may dry out a teeny bit. but the one thing I always tried not to do was freeze snus, unfreeze it, then freeze it, and back and forth. Normally,, once unfrozen, my snus is never frozen again.

Same. I use the freezer for long term storage. If I just have a few cans, they go in the fridge. When I remove snus from the freezer, they go to the fridge until finished.

I use an old camera bag that just holds 6 cans. I keep my day's snus (4-6 open cans) in it just for convenience. I decide the night before what Ill use and put it in the fridge. In the morning I carry the bag to work and then it goes in the mini-fridge in my office which is all of 6 feet away from me. Some days I'm extremely lazy though and it just stays at my desk.
End of the day the bag goes home with me and just like at work, it either goes in the fridge or if im lazy it stays on the coffee table.

Basically if I think about it it goes in the fridge. If not oh well.
