    First Los Experience...

Well, my los 'starter kit' came in today from getsnus. I've got a pris in now, which is staying put, and tastes great the first try though it was falling apart, seemed too big for my lip, and made me gag because of the bits in my mouth! My solution to that was to use only a half prismaster full...it worked. I've got the General in now, and love it.

Great news. A full prismaster is too much for me too. You should really try hand baking. Zero's stickied vid is a great start.

Half a prismaster is a good start. After awhile you'll be packing a full one.

I tried handbaking last night after watching zero's video...It's actually not too difficult to master, and the video is a great help! I definitely prefer the shape and fit of a handbaked pris over that from a prismaster. The only problem is the juice and such left on your hands afterward. I can envision times where the prismaster would be much more convenient. I'm considering getting an icetool though, as it seems to have a more rounded pris shape. Any advice on that?

Tons of people swear by it. I have one, and while I prefer hand baking, the icetool is very convenient sometimes.

I recommend the 3ml one, because if you are having trouble with half a primaster's worth, you will never use 5ml. In fact, I can't imagine anyone using 5ml of snus at one time. That is a crap load of snus....like, what...a fifth of the tin?

I have been more in favor of very loose hand baked pris...right on the border of the hilly billy method. Loose pinch, one or two packs in the hand, jam it in, and pack it in with my tongue.

This is a weird idea I just had, and I'm not sure I'll try this, but it might be something to try on one of those days to try something weird. And it might work, and might be good. I've been doing forum search on los topics, and I had this idea, as the can of Grovlos I have is totally different than American style dip, in that it's not a bunch of chopped up leaves, but more of a clay-like grind, that's firm and moldable. Ok, I wonder if you could take some American style dry scotch snuff, pour some in a small bowl, and add a little water, and get a similar consistency to los, that it could be molded into a pris? I was dipping with American scotch snuffs a little while back, but quit, as I didn't like a mouth of partly dry, rest mush in my bottom gum, but maybe as a baked pris in the top, that might not be bad. Any comments?

I just don't see where nasal snuff would be pleasant in the mouth in any way, shape, or form! It just seems to me that you'd end up with a mess no matter what you do to it. Just my .02! Try it and let us know how it works!

I am talking about American Dry Scotch snuff, which is mainly used as an oral snuff, and historically marketed as such. And it's not bad as such, I've bottom lipped it before.

I really dont see it working. I've sniffed american snuffs and it's even finer and dryer than other nasal snuffs. Prima Fint is the finest grind loose snus I've used and it's oh so much more coarse than snuff.

Last night I tried this, and it actually worked very good. I put a small amount in a little bowl, enough for a pris, and just added little bits of water till it got like a dough consistency and it baked really good, and I stuck it in my mouth, and it also gave a noticable nic hit. The negative was the taste, or lack of, it doesn't have a bold hearty taste like loose snus, but it wasn't "bad", or I didn't think so. I might try it again with some sweet snuff, as I have some of that already, or maybe mix the sweet with the non-sweet. Just something to mess with I guess, but it's not as good as loose snus.

tried my first los today and gota say i love the taste of it and the feel it has. i could't keep the offraod from falling apart wile trying to hand bake it.

so far ive tried montecristo los, probe, and i have a pris of GES in now which is the best iv tasted so far. GES bakes so much better than what i have tried so far and stays in place with no problem. im at work now with a big ass pris in. looks like i have a fat lip. i have no icetool or prismaster yet but hand baking isnt too hard just messy. i just tend to grab a pinch and place it in my mouth and shape it with finger and tonugue

Skruf Stark Loose is the easiest to hand bake and will stay together for as long as you let it. The fine grinds are really easy as well, but they wont last quite as long.

It does have a good texture. No need to even bake. Just pinch and throw in the mouth.
