I enjoy loose-leaf tobacco chew. I buy Stoker Tennessee Original and Stoker Moonshine in pound bags from the local tobacconist. I get 4-5 pounds at a time, make 4 oz packages using quart freezer bags (I even use my postal scale for accuracy), then double-bag them (several at a time) in a Gallon freezer bag and store in the deep freeze. I mark the date and variety on each bag.
I thaw it out one bag at a time (as needed) in the fridge, where I store it as it is being used. I fill my small pocket tin from the refrigerated bag. I always burp the bag when closing, I heard that exposure to air is not good. All in all a good method I think.
After it is fully thawed, I add brandy for flavoring. I use about 1/2 shot of brandy per ounce of tobacco right into the thawed out bag (2 shots to the bag). Shake it up really well (to distribute the brandy), then burp the bag and let it age a day or 2 in the fridge. The result is a very moist tobacco, which I "hand-bake" into a portion about the size of my thumb (tip to first knuckle), then "snus" it in my top lip. My portion is smaller than traditional "chewing" techniques, but the flavor stays for a long time, and it's darn good (in my opinion).
Using my top lip, there is not usually an abundance of juice to spit (may 1 or 2 spits for each portion) but the little juice it does produce after that is much like that I get when snusing, I just swallow it. No ill effects noticed.
Yummmmmmmm
