    Traveling tips needed

I've been living in Sweden for a while now, and I'm going back to Iceland. I bought 10 cans of skruf, and I don't know how to hide them in my luggage. What is the best way to hide it so the customs won't find my snus?

Is Icelandic customs going to cause you problems with the roll? There's not much they can't find with an x-ray machine these days (providing they actually x-ray it). I'm not familiar with Icelandic law. If you could enlighten me to the problem I may be able to provide some suggestions.

        Import regulations by Iceland customs

        Imports:

Tobacco:200 cigarettes, or 205gr of other tobacco products ( if you are 18 )
Alcohol:1 litre of spirits, 1 litre of wine, 6 litres of beer (if you are 20)

        http://iceland.visahq.com/customs/

I doubt they'll weight it. Worst case scenario is you have to give up 5.5 cans of loose or 1.5 cans of portion!

is this skruf los or portion we're talkin about here? Los would only allow for 4-5 cans legally, leaving you with an additional 5-6 you'd have to stash. Maybe bring the 4-5 you're allowed and ship the rest to yourself in Iceland, as it seems most countries regulate the quantity crossing the border in a single instance, you may be able to make it work that way. Though you may have to send it in 2 packages.

Portions would allow more if they only count the tobacco weight and not the package as well.

They would probably count the package and everything I don't think they will try and get 2 technical!!

In Iceland snus, los or portion, is considered as a kind of a drug. the other tobacco products that is given up in the information from the Icelandic customs are; cigars, Icelandic nasal tobacco and other smoking tobacco. Ive heard that can of Prinhles might help, but I have my doubts.

I'd just say mail it to yourself. If you get caught with a roll of snus stashed in a can of pringles, you could get charged with smuggling. Much more serious than losing a couple of cans. Of course, you could just put a can in each pocket in your pants, stash a couple in your coat pockets, and put the rest in your bag. I couldn't say whether carry on or your claimed luggage would be better though.

Another thing to consider is what airport you're flying out of. If you're going through a large airport, in my experience they tend to be more strict. If you're starting off in a small one, and have a lay over somewhere, you should be safe though. You go through security once at the little airport, get off your plane, and don't go past the point where you need to go through it again. That way, you only need to go through security/customs once.

I just hope they don't have snus-sniffing dogs in Iceland. That would be frightening.

Do Icelandic customs really stop everybody coming in and have them open all their luggage? If not, why not just put it inside your checked-in suitcase and roll it right past them like a cool snuser. Swedish customs persons sure don't. They have never wanted a peek inside a bag of mine. Well, once, but that was because I came running like an idiot first person off the Elsinore ferry in order to get a good seat on the waiting train (which I didn't thanks to said bureaucrats). That was in 1980 and I've made scores of trips since then.

I have never once trafficked in snus though. Not going in, at least.

You COULD hide portions anally. Los would be alittle more difficult to insert tho. In either case the end result would be the added flavor.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I'd repackage the Skruf, and put it in a convenient container, maybe even on your person. Keep the allowable amount in the factory tins, and put the rest in a candy bag or something.

well.... you could play it like a coke mule and wrap it up in condoms, separated by flavor (not that there appears to be a variety here, but who knows), tie it off and then pack it in your arse. I hear it's horribly uncomfortable though. Not to mention 10 cans worth of portions or los would leave you feeling like you had to pinch a record setting loaf for the duration of the trip.

It would save the issue of added flavor, but I don't think we should be going to such extreme ends for something that is relatively legal in most of the world. I mean we're not talking trying to smuggle an ounce of premium dutch weed to the states here.
