Ok,
I got an old open can of Skruf Stark Portion. I can't remember if it was a trade or I grabbed it out of a box pass, but I tried one of these and it was pretty dried out, and I found the dried out portion to be uncomfortable and stiff, and after a while I spit it out and threw the can in the trash.
Well, I have a few older cans in my stock, only a few I've gotten too was a bit dried out, but still in the OK range. So pitchin' a can wasn't any big loss. I do think as I go through my stock, I will keep only a max of 20 cans, because I think maybe the Best Before Date does matter, as there isn't much better than a fresh moist can.
But, I thinking of this, and how a good way to rehydrate them, portions, this is. I had tried a few sprays of water before, but it didn't do much to me. I remember the snus I really liked and became my favorite was this can of Thunder Original Pouches, and it was literally dripping wet. So, I figured I'd try soaking them. So, I fished out that can of Skruf Stark, it was still closed and fine, and I dumped out the portions on the table, pulled all apart and stacked them equally in the can. Then I took the can over to the sink, and just let the water run into the can till the portions were all covered. I put the lid on. I left it out, closed, but later put it in the fridge, overall it sat about 14 hours, overnight.
This morning I opened the can, and was suprised it did have dark juice all over and in it. I dumped the portions in this wire-like strainer I have and flopped them about, and put them back in the can, and took the can with me to work. So, just a while ago, I thought I'd give it a try. I thought if anything, the water would dilute it all, and it'd be bland and tasteless, and I'd just dump it, as it was going that way at the start.
I opened the can at work, and it still had a bit of liquid in the bottom, so I poured it off in the sink, and grabbed out a portion, and put it in. Well, this experiment was a success. It was not diluted in taste at all, and was strong in flavor, fully rehydrated, and the portion material soft.
So, I sit here with this portion in my mouth, with some coffee, and it is very good. I will do this again to other portion cans I think have become too dried out.
