A word about the General sampler packs....

I don't care what the package says.......you're better off putting these things in the fridge. :?

I was sitting on the couch watching a movie, and I had the sampler pack on my coffee table (where it's been for about a month). I was too lazy to get up and get a tin from the fridge, so I decided I would open up the sampler instead.

I don't think I have ever had a spoiled snus up until now; the smell and taste of this shite almost made me gag. Every flavor. I'm talking very close to Phantom and Level proportions. :x I'm pretty sure I can say that I've finally had a snus "go bad".

This post couldn't have come at a better time. I had the same experience yesterday. It came with my shipment I got yesterday from GetSnus. I opened them up and I was somewhat disgusted. The whites weren't too bad (a little moist which I think is odd), the mini mint were just fine, the originals were kind of dried out, but not too terribly bad. The wintergreens though. Ugh. First time I've thrown out snus. Instead of being too dry, they were very wet. It was kind of disgusting. Maybe moist wintergreen white portions are just super fresh, but it was definitely weird. I still appreciate the fact that I got them for free, but they were all pretty unappealing.

Heh, actually, your description is pretty close to how General Wintergreen normally is anyway. Those are the wettest white portions I've ever seen. I'm finding that I dislike them more and more every day...

I actually like the moist, dough like properties of General Wintergreen. I wondered in another thread what made them like that, and Vegan brought up a good theory....the mint oil. I actually prefer the formable texture, and ultra soft feel. Although Ive only tried like 20 different snus so far, this is so far the one I just cant get enough of. Even when I have a different type of snus in, I find myself craving the GW like I used to crave cigarettes!

The general sampler was the first snus I have ever ordered and I don't know why but I put it strait into the freezer.

Haha, In my opinon General is the snus that should be in everyones first snus order! It is a shamee that it is not as people who don't start with General original, are really missing what snus is supposed to taste like which i think is especially important, especially on a first order!

Well, the thing is I usually like General WG. I've only had a few cans though. I've always thought they were really soft, but this is the first time they've actually been almost dripping wet. Again, maybe that just means they're really fresh. If that's true, I guess I prefer dried up wintergreen portions.

I personally hate General WG, but it may be because I use dto dip american. Its like taking a dip of skoal spearmint and swallowing the juice.

I really liked them at first, but whatever flavoring they use just started to taste more and more of chemicals. The aftertaste has always been bad, anyway. These days, I'll only buy it if it is all the local shop has (which sometimes happens).

I didn't think I was going to really like the wintergreen, but a few days after finishing a can I started craving one. I was thinking about throwing another can in an order when getsnus bonused me with a mystery can of it. I've had two or three portions and it's there for when I crave it again. I won't be surprised if it turns on me, though. It might be all right if I keep it as an occasional, which I probably will do, since there's several others I really prefer.

Just keep in mind that it is best when it's fresh.....fresh like, wayyy before the best before date.

That's funny you mentioned this, because I use General WG as my go to and the store I normally got it from ran out and werent sure when they were getting more in. The girl was nice enough to load me up on the samplers, but they tasted really weird. I was worried that I no longer liked General WG (I used skoal wg for a week while I waited for an online order to come in) but I just got some more and they are fine. WG definitely doesnt like those foil packets.
