Having first ever snus right now

OK, popped it in about a half hour ago. When I first put it in, not much was happening. My gum started burning and my nose went a little numb. Now, getting a lot of salt (bought General) and getting a lot of burn in the throat. I can see this working...

Couple of questions/comments. Actually having trouble keeping it from slipping down my teeth. Is it supposed to be all the way back by the molars? Or do you just develop a feel for it?

Why does it have to be the top lip? Anybody ever hold it like a dip?

    Thanks!

    FishCough welcome the forum.

It sounds like you've got some los snus in. If that is the case might I recommend you hop over to the "dippers guide to snus". It has a lot of helpful info that I think you will find relevant. Rather than repeat it all here I'll just give you the link.

If the guide does not answer your particular questions feel free to post them (either on this thread or on the guide) or you can PM me directly and I will be glad to try and help

Generally, the right place is just off front center. That said, I have always pushed mine far back, back by the last molar,

Why upper lip?? Because lower lip will make it juice up FAR more. No one says you can't, but that is why.

About the does the salt and burning go away bit, yes and no. The salt taste becomes way less noticeable over time, but occasionally you might notice it. For me, some brands give me a bit of throat burn every once in a while. Most of the time, I can leave Claq Qui in for an hour or two with no problem, even when drinking. Sometimes, it bugs the hell out of my throat and I have to spit it out after 15 minutes. Just depends with some things, I suppose.

Thanks everybody. Had my morning smokes and now moving on to snus for the rest of the day.

Actually, bought the pouch(?. Sorry, not up on the lingo yet), but it did kind of slide around. I realized that wasn't so bad as every time I'd move it around I got more flavor. I'm sure I'll get the feel for it, and be back with more questions soon!

Keep it closer to the front, on one side or the other, and it will stay put better...

Welcome to snuson Fishcough. Like RobsanX said, keep it up front. After about a week or two, you'll get used to it, and kinda forget it's there, and it won't move at all. As others have said, you'll get used to the salt and won't taste it hardly at all. It took me two weeks to be able to tell the difference between a GR1 and a General White.

I always put mine just to the left or right of the little skin bridge in the center of the lip. I push it up as much as I can and it ends up right near my incisor. Its become my sweet spot and Ive never had a slippage issues.
