So I got the regular strength Odens los a few days ago and had the same reaction. I tried it a couple times and I'm sure its the flavoring. I don't ever eat anything with a cinnamon "flavoring" but I do enjoy real cinnamon.
I had to try other cinnamon flavored things so I bought some big red and got the same reaction-an instant headache and general poo poo feeling (not pooping myself...). Its how the flavor is formulated that reacts badly with me.

You know, the interesting thing about cinnamon is that it can be at least four different things. There is Ceylon, or "true" cinnamon; Cassia; Saigon cinnamon; and Chinese/Vietnamese/Indonesian cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmannii)--by the way, I'm no cinnamonologist, I'm just cribbing from Wikipedia. I had read about this before, and I think it bears repeating:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinnamo...mon_and_cassiaDue to the presence of a moderately toxic component called coumarin, European health agencies have recently warned against consuming large amounts of cassia.[18] This is contained in much lower dosages in Cinnamomum burmannii due to its low essential oil content. Coumarin is known to cause liver and kidney damage in high concentrations. True Ceylon cinnamon has negligible amounts of coumarin.
I'd love to know for sure what I'm actually getting when I get "cinnamon" anything, for this reason. Also, and the main reason I bring this up, is that it would be interesting to know if you get a reaction from all of these cinnamon variants, or just one, or two; I'm not suggesting it would be worth subjecting yourself to these effects to find out, however.
More: according to the Wikipedia page on Cassia, "Most of the spice sold as cinnamon in the United States and Canada (where true cinnamon is still generally unknown) is actually cassia." Apparently Cassia (as well as Burmanii) can also be called "Chinese cinnamon", and possibly (it seems to be implied) "Indonesian cinnamon". :?

Thanks fot the article.
I know cassia ,d true cinnamon both do not cause headaches in their natural and ground forms. I think when it is processed into a flavoring the chemical they use to extract the flavoring or something in the artificial flavoring has an effect on me. Also, I have never had vietnamese cinnamon to my knowledge, so it might be that.
