    Arthur (Snusgetter) Godfrey Memorial Thread

Arthur (Snusgetter) Godfrey was a beloved member of Snuson, whose wit, generosity, and kindness did so much to make this community the family that it is today.

On November 14, 2011 Art suffered a massive heart attack and never regained consciousness. four days later, on November 18th he passed away.

In Art’s memory and out of deep appreciation for his friendship and countless contributions to this site, the administrators, moderators, and members of Snuson have thought it fitting to pay Art the highest tribute we can give a member. We have named an entire section of the forum “Snusgetter’s Corner” in his honor. It is hoped that in this small way we can always remember Snusgetter while doing something he loved: talking about snus, cutting up, and sharing his love for snus with other members.

However, Art’s contributions went beyond mere fun and games. His constant vigilance to help keep this forum free of spam and unwanted ads was legendary. Therefore, the moderators feel it is well deserved to bestow upon him the title of Moderator Emeritus.

But in the end, there can be no more fitting tribute to Art than the words of those who loved him and whose lives he touched. Therefore, we end this memorial post with the words of his own son, Snusoff who is also a member of this forum.

But he was loved by the listeners of the various stations he worked at. In the 80's he gave up his radio career to focus on my, and my brother's, health when he started a local health food store, aplty named "For The Health Of It." He was well loved by the patrons of his store because he was able to greet everyone with a smile and made them feel welcome. In the 90's up till last year, he worked for the United States Postal Service at a small branch here in Massachusetts. He was so well liked for his humor that customers would literally line up for hours and wait for him to tell a joke, try to stump him with a joke of their own, or even get a sarcastic comment from him.

My dad IS my hero and I hope he was able to hear me tell him that tonight. I miss him unbelievably.

I want to thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for being a part of my dad's life. It means a lot to me and I know to him as well.

Rest in Peace Arthur (Snusgetter) Godfrey

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I wish my sincere condolances to the Godfrey Familiy. I'm sure lots of people will miss Arthur "Snusgetter" Godfrey

BTW, we changed the name of this forum in honor of Snusgetter. This is how I can up with the name.....When I would send him snus he always requested that I send it to "Snusgetters Corner" with just an address. I never knew his real name and I never knew what "Snusgetters Corner" actually was. Now I believe it was his well deserved own little corner in this world.

RIP mate. I miss you. I'm sure we will meet again soon.

Ya know what was one of my favorite things about snusgetter? His well formatted posts. He took the time to give a good visual presentation, with fonts, colors, and formatting. I also liked his smilie selection. I'm not normally a big fan of gif smilies, but snusgetter made them work. They always belonged, without looking like a tacked on afterthought :^)

Snugetter died? Jesus Christ I am so sorry to hear that. My condolences to his son on this board and to everyone else who ever ran across him in their travels. I am glad that, even in a passively connected way, our fates were intertwined and I had the pleasure of interacting with him on this worldly plain. This is a big loss to the forum in a major way, and to planet earth as well. I am so glad the Snuson mods went out of their way to make a virtual memorial form him in the form of his own section, it represents the fact that even people with whom he only occasionally communicated with on the internet held him to such a high regard that they would mourn his passing.

Sorry to see you go brother. The spammers have won...

I'll bet you a roll of snus that Snusgetter is buzy prescreening applicants for Saint Peter before the souls are allowed into heaven.
