No, it was sometime after that though. Back then they did have a few good non music video shows. Liquid Television, The State, and dare I say Beavis And Butthead.

Years ago, my ex and I renamed MTV EBMTV

Everything but Music Televesion

Shame.

A few years later, we got the latino channels on cable as they had a latino MTV that played nothing but videos. Then MTV came and decided to really do it up. And the videos stopped.

On another thread, us oldsters are talking about the olden computer days, and I mentioned I starting collecting music videos off usenet in 99. Have thousands of videos in my collection, about 120 of my favorites in a playlist I watch all the time. As soon as I could control what I watched, I just stopped with TV. I am that way with everything now. Even if a show is on TV now, I will bittorrent it so I have control

I do miss the older videos. My wife never watched MTV, so I went to there website where you can watch any video and showed her some of (my) classics. Beck, Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth.
