I am debating on revealing the WTF? bonus snuff ... I may get a lot of

Wow, Cheese and Bacon. I totally didn't get that. I still have a little bit left. I'm going to try again when my nose is fresh, probably some time tomorrow. Great contest Bat. I had fun, though it was a little stressful when I realized I wasn't sure what the hell they were :^D I'll post my notes here. This is exactly as I wrote them down on a scrap piece of paper...

1: shudder sweetness cardboard narrow 1847? BUT TASTE! My guess- Offroad Original

2:Bland PallMall? My guess- Ettan

3: White- sweet V2!! terrible phantom original worst My Guess- Phantom original

4:Bitter (Gustavus) My guess- Gustavus

5: (Gustavus)? smoke Granit First guess- Granit Shortly thereafter I changed my guess to Skruf Stark. I sent in my guess too early, and the signature Skruf flavor came through shortly thereafter.

6: LD Black My guess- LD Black :^P

7: 1847? pepper!! My guess- PM 1847

8: White terrible cardboard Phantom white? cool?? My guess- Phantom Classic White

#3 was horrible. It was in my mouth for a minute tops before I spit it out. I just couldn't take it :^D I'm surprised it was Elixyr. I don't usually get that strong a reaction from it.

All the other snus I left in until they were dead(1 hour+)

WTF... WTF is right :^D I hadn't had this before, but the grind reminded me of Dholakia's snuff. It smelled vaguely coconutty to me, so I went with FUBAR, as people have described that as coconutty. When that wasn't right, I changed my answer to Jaxons. I haven't had any of them before, but the grind didn't remind me of any I was familiar with, so I went with the odd one out. I picked toffee because it tasted vaguely sweet to me. Wow cheese and bacon eh? I definitely have to revisit this.

My general tasting methodology...

I would put the snus in, then suck the hell out of it. I tend to do that with portions anyway, but I took it to the extreme with this. I wanted to get a big hit of flavor to see what was up. In retrospect that may not have been the best way to go. I may have artificially made the taste more powerful than it really was, and it could have affected my choices..

Whining :^D...

I think the snus may have been negatively affected by being in the bags. They got squashed flat, and they all seemed a little lacking at first; almost like they were too old. I honestly don't know a practical way around this doing it long distance. The best way would be to do the tasting in person, and have the portions fresh from the can. I can't say I would have done any better with fresh portions. This was a lot harder than I was expecting. Even though I don't use portions much, I thought I had them pretty well figured out. When you don't see them come out of the tin, it really changes things :^D

Thanks again Bat. It was a fun experience, and even though it was stressful, I had fun, especially comparing myself to others.

Aha!! The Elixyr wasn't the energy, I misread. It was the original portion. That may explain me not associating it with the energy. I haven't had it before, but I bet it's close to Offroad original, or Phantom original. It's definitely got V2's signature portion style :^D

Btw I thought your selection was very fair. It was a good cross sampling without making it too easy.

I just tried the WTF again, and I stuck the rest of it in my nose. I'm getting the cheese now, but it's fairly mellow. Not as cheezy as I was expecting. I still don't really get the bacon, but I think this'll be a 25g order on my next Toque order. I like it :^)

FWIW, Elixyr Original is the only snus I haven't managed to finish. I really lost enthusiasm for it. I sent the last five portions to a curious someone, who sent me six portions of Gots Gul in exchange :O)

That might not be a bad idea. Eliminate as much air space as possible. Also, mylar might be better for keeping the flavors close so they don't migrate too badly.

man #3 was elixyr, that blows my mind. i really liked that one hahahaha. i cant believe im the only one that got catch eucalyptus, i thought that one was the easiest after ld black (and how could you muff that one up!?) id only ever used one portion of catch and gave the can away, then after this, kind of think i like it now. im pretty pleased that basically the ones i have used i got right. some were a total shot in the dark for me.

CHEESE AND BACON???? i cant believe it. id have never gotten that. snuff guessing is hard.
