    I think we're limited to 10 ounces.

    From PACT:

    4) CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS-

    ‘(A) IN GENERAL- Subsection (a) shall not apply to tobacco products mailed by individuals who are not minors for noncommercial purposes, including the return of a damaged or unacceptable tobacco product to the manufacturer.

    ‘(B) RULES-

    ‘(i) IN GENERAL- Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of the Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking Act of 2009, the Postmaster General shall issue a final rule which shall establish the standards and requirements that apply to all mailings described in subparagraph (A).

    ‘(ii) CONTENTS- The final rule issued under clause (i) shall require--

    ‘(I) the United States Postal Service to verify that any person submitting an otherwise nonmailable tobacco product into the mails as authorized under this paragraph is the individual identified on the return address label of the package and is not a minor;

    ‘(II) for a mailing to an individual, the United States Postal Service to require the person submitting the otherwise nonmailable tobacco product into the mails as authorized by this paragraph to affirm that the recipient is not a minor;

    ‘(III) that any package mailed under this paragraph shall weigh not more than 10 ounces;

    ‘(IV) that any mailing described in subparagraph (A) shall be sent through the systems of the United States Postal Service that provide for the tracking and confirmation of the delivery;

    ‘(V) that a mailing described in subparagraph (A) shall not be delivered or placed in the possession of any individual who has not been verified as not being a minor;

    ‘(VI) for a mailing described in subparagraph (A) to an individual, that the United States Postal Service shall deliver the package only to a recipient who is verified not to be a minor at the recipient address or transfer it for delivery to an Air/Army Postal Office or Fleet Postal Office number designated in the recipient address; and

    ‘(VII) that no person may initiate more than 10 mailings described in subparagraph (A) during any 30-day period.

        Thanks for quoting the exact wording of the applicable section of PACT, which I won't repeat.

        Let's see -- 10 ounces = 283 grams. A can of snus is about 24 grams, so that's about 11 cans. Not bad, I think we can work with that. If nothing else, a box pass can be mailed in two separate packages.

        Oops! *blushing* First calculation was wrong, now corrected.

          I wouldn't worry about it too much. The postal service isn't good at doing their job right now, why would they suddenly become effective with the passing of PACT? Just put it in box and ask them to mail it.

            You're probably right. I know for certain they're horribly understaffed. And there's no content labeling requirement as long as you're mailing within the US, so how in the hell are they going to know what's in the package, anyway?

                  well it's nice to see this thing is moving again.

                  I posted this in the newbie section when I started it. It's a good thing for new snusers to get in on just to try. The intent was for people to take. It's cool that it's growing.

                  has it reached the last person on the list? Post on the newb section again and see if you can get ten names or so. It's probably best to keep it moving so that the snus doesn't get too old being that it's not refrigerated or anything.

                    I certainly wouldn't worry about mailing this stuff as far as pact goes. So many other things make it through just fine.

                      It has two(?) more people after /dev/null. I don't see why we shouldn't just keep it going and add new people on. We will have to see how it goes getting the box to and from the remaining people on the list.

                        Forgot to post that the box was sent to GhandiSnus on Friday.

                        It had >30 cans in all. Mostly flavored and minty OP with a couple of white types (I think the flavored kinds outnumbered the tobacco and traditional types). There were surprisingly only two cans of lös by the time it left me. Also, one can was stark OP, and there were at least three cans of Thunder.

                        All this said, I think we can stand to add a few more people on to the route.

                          it took me two weeks to get five names. I didn't want it to sit around too long as I'm new to the box pass thing. Not sure how long it usually takes to fill one. I agree that it should be perpetual.

                            I'm certainly down to get on this list.

                            I was wondering if there was any way to sample different types of snus without having to buy a can of everything out there.

                              Posted a note in Newbie section.

                              If mods keep it up maybe it will get some names for this. I agree, this being perpetual is a great idea for those new to snus.
