That is kind of a good point. 150 posts does not necessarily show someone's activity and/or trustworthiness, but I don't have a better suggestion either. I just looked and don't have 150 posts either and I wouldn't consider a noob box being that useful to me at this point because there are VERY few that I have not tried. Those that I have not are unlikely to ever be in a box pass.

Nobody wants to get a call at 3:00 in the morning but then again nobody wants to be screwed over either. I'm not saying that will happen, Just an idea.
I think this may be A decent proposal as caller ID would confirm the persons name and if something happens to the box about 50 phone calls all hours of the day and night for days and weeks might deter anybody from trying to steal it as they would have to change both numbers and who wants to go through that. This would have to be known to all particapants up front before they sign up for the box pass.... it would seem there needs to be some kind of deterant put in place to stop future thefts....

I haven't read through the whole thread, but I've been kind of disenchanted with the box passes. I've been in 2 that have disappeared, and for some reason I feel personally responsible for them. I don't like shit disappearing on my watch, even when there isn't much I can do about it.

My suggestion would be for participants to post bond via PayPal to a trusted member. That may be a barrier to some, but if they have money to lose in the deal, it might keep boxes from disappearing. Keep the value of the box at $75 or less, and post a $100 bond. That way there's no incentive to make off with the contents.

There's some downsides to this method. Since tobacco is verboten, insurance won't be possible. Anyone in would be making a $100 gamble that USPS does it's job correctly. In my experience, they've been virtually flawless, and it'll be good incentive to write clearly on the package :^D

Also, there's a very small chance of collusion between members. I think this would be unlikely, and if the originator picks the ship order, almost impossible. If a box were lost, I'd split the PayPal bond amongst the members who successfully completed the transaction, or in the case where Chad(or someone else) supplies everything, it would all go to the originator.

I think we should just start sending boxes of trash to whoever steals the box. I mean, we have the address, maybe some lawn refuse, old Santana CDs and empty Taco Bell sauce packets will convince them to play by the rules.

And if said thief is looking in on this thread, that's not a threat, its a promise.

And if said thief is not really a thief, but just incurred some kind of hardship, financial or otherwise, which prevented him/her from getting the box out, I am sorry about sending you boxes full of random things I was going to throw out. I probably should have just saved my money on postage. My bad.

I need to rant for a minute here... What is the purpose of this Box pass? I thought it was for noobies to try out snus. I think i have somthing like 81 posts and would qualify for the next one possibly, I would have liked to get into this one, But I think this 150 post rule is Fundamentally wrong and Contradicts the name of the box pass. I have been a member of this forum for about a month now and if this box is only for those with a certain post count, then how are they called noobies. some including myself don't post all day, But I could or any other noob for that matter could just post in what do you have in your mouth every hour to get up their post count. This is not going to solve anything.

I think a certain amount of trust, Faith and integrity should be given to noobies and other members of this forum, If you don't trust noobies then what is the point of having this box pass or this forum for that matter and calling it Noob box pass. When this box 1st started didn't you have trust and faith that the next person would send it on and not keep it and do the right thing. I feel anybody could just keep the box at anytime and not pass it on, not just noobies cm'on guys how about A little faith and trust in your fellow man and new members. I think this sends the wrong message to new members of this forum that they can't be trusted.

I know some of you feel burned by what that dick did too Noob box pass II, but why let 1 bad apple spoil it for all. This could happen at anytime and am sure somone must of thought that it could. Hell what is stopping someone from taking 5 items or 20 out of the box and only adding 1 or none, like I said a certain amount of member trust and faith in that people will do the right thing is neede here. You mine as well change the name of the pass box... Sorry this is not right for noobies....

I belonged and still do to a cruise critic forum, It is for cruisers to get to know one another before they go on a ship and help with questions like what is a good cabin, what ports are like and what excursions are good to go on, how to save money, Many meet up on the ship. I have given money for group excursions to fellow members I only met on that forum days before as many others do, because that is how you save money to do things that the cruise line charges a fortune for. Many members just trust that that person organizing and taking $$$ from other members will do the right thing and their is trust and faith....

Sorry for the long rant but this is how I feel, I do not take offense to this post rule, i just think it sends the wrong message about the noob box and what this forum is about...

Again I will say just because 1 person did this it should not be changed, After all how long has this box been going before something like this happened

I would have to agree, I myself would like to be part of this box pass, but yet I don't qualify for it. Before Getsnus.com was taken over by Northerner.com I had over 900 post in that form. I wouldn't call myself a newbie at snus since I have been snusing for over a year now. As of right now I try to post here and there if I have something to say on the topic but I feel that you older members have it covered and explain it alot better than I would so I don't bother posting.

While I was a member of Getsnus's forum I completed trades with plenty of people from all over the country. I am willing to give you guys any information that you require, address, cell number, my work email address, etc... I really would like to try snus I can't get in the states. I will even contribute some of my snus to get the box started.

I do respect that you guys have done plenty of these and some were stolen, so I definitely get where you are coming from but even with a person who post regularly there is still a huge chance of getting stolen.

If this can't happen then I understand and no hard feelings will develope.

Has anybody given any further thought to this? This sounds good and may solve the stolen problem so the box can get going for all again. Is it like putting A hold on your card for a hotel, rental car that won't be charged until you use it? or steal it in this case...

If USPS wasn't a problem before then it should't be A problem with this method right? I don't think someone would want to pay $100 for stealing a box unless they liked everything that is in it and that would be unlikely as they could buy everything they wanted through an online store for less....

Sorry guys I really didn't mean to cause A shit storm here when I posted my little rant, I just wanted to point out A flaw that would have come back full circle and wanted to stop this from happening again so all members could benefit....

While USPS (allegedly)allows private shipments of tobacco, I think the weight limits are smaller than are in the typical box pass. That being the case, if USPS is used, you're smuggling. Personally, I don't have a moral problem with that, but it makes it difficult getting postal insurance, and filing a claim. That would be like sending weed through the mail, USPS losing it, then filing an insurance claim for the package. Anyone that does that must carry their balls in a wheelbarrow :^D

The $100 gamble is that USPS will get the package to the intended destination. They do a very good job, but they have a less than 100% success rate. There's a chance of the package getting lost, and with my proposed scheme, the person who was shipping the package would be losing $100. Otherwise, someone could steal the box, say it got lost in the mail, and have their $100 bond refunded.
