My wife and I took a drive to upstate SC and checked out Boda Pipe and Tobacco to get some General mint and the lady there said that their supplier told them that as of today the FDA told them that they can no longer do ANY mail order of snus even via UPS.

Anyone else heard anything about this?

it might be banned there as well, if it's banned in EU I don't see why US would be able to ship to EU ....

I doubt it, how can they ban snus while dip is legal, legally there's no difference between copenhagen pouches and general portion.

that person probably learned that commercial tobacco shipments can't be sent by USPS. They probably are confused and think that they can't ship at all. I would talk to the shop owner and fiind out what their problem is. You can correct them on the shipping issue if need be.

Now is the best time to buy snus. It doesn't matter when "now" is, but you can be assured it's the best time :^)

I did speak with the shop owner. She was very adamant that the rep they buy General Snus from said that no one can mail snus and she specifically mentioned UPS.

I took their card and I am calling them back tomorrow to see what it's all about. Hopefully I can get speak with someone else who might be able to provide me with some more specifics. I did place an order with getsnus to see if they were shipping and they were. I bet it's probably a misunderstanding on their part.

The General rep told her about the EU ban.......(think about who initiated that ban--SM).........and in the process one of them got a few of the details.............well..........a little ass backwards.

Also in most cases................there are several steps required before there is an out right ban of a currently legal product. There is notice given to manufacturers about new upcoming restrictions on what they can make .................a notice given to the legal carriers of that product (e.g.UPS)....................public notice for those who sell and buy it.....................and a date of implimentation.....................think back to PACT..............we had plenty of prior notice that on such and such a date the new regulations would go into effect.


Furthermore, while the FDA can regulate a product.................I am not sure they have the authority to make it outright illegal (in the case of Tobacco)..................In other words they can say no cloves in cigarettes or no berry flavor in dip.....................but I am fairly certain it would require congress to outlaw cigarettes or other currently legal tobacco products completely
