Also in most cases................there are several steps required before there is an out right ban of a currently legal product. There is notice given to manufacturers about new upcoming restrictions on what they can make .................a notice given to the legal carriers of that product (e.g.UPS)....................public notice for those who sell and buy it.....................and a date of implimentation.....................think back to PACT..............we had plenty of prior notice that on such and such a date the new regulations would go into effect.

Furthermore, while the FDA can regulate a product.................I am not sure they have the authority to make it outright illegal (in the case of Tobacco)..................In other words they can say no cloves in cigarettes or no berry flavor in dip.....................but I am fairly certain it would require congress to outlaw cigarettes or other currently legal tobacco products completely

Yah things like this are a long and drawn out affair, it's literally impossible for them to ban something in an overnight vote or something so I am sure that this is all just a misunderstanding.

Hopefully, the lady was misinformed. Keep in mind though, the ban on shipping snus EU to EU also happened "overnight". I have a bad feeling about this...

There is no ban on snus in the EU

What happened overnight in the EU was merchant derived not parliamentary.

Regardless..................all the money in my pocket..................... verses all the money in your pocket.....................it is the EU situation to which the General distributor was referring (however confused he got it)

It won't happen. General is an FDA registered product.

If the snus manufacturers in Sweden are serious about the US market, then get yourself registered. Start looking at ways to pump your product into large retail establishments (Costco, Safeway, Wal-Mart, etc.)

Just imagine... Bulk snus at Costco.

I see. The recent "snus ban" is quite confusing. Can you (or someone else) simplify the current "ban" on snus that passed? From what I read, Northerner and Buysnus were no longer allowed to ship snus to EU countries, due to recent legal red tape. I would read more about the current situation, but there seems to be a lack of transparency. Any commentary would be greatly appreciated!

I love purchasing "essential" items in abundance, since it provides a fiscal benefit in the long run. If Costco stocked General Snus in high-volume containers at a decent price, I would defecate in my pants -- out of joy, of course.

I took their card and I am calling them back tomorrow to see what it's all about. Hopefully I can get speak with someone else who might be able to provide me with some more specifics. I did place an order with getsnus to see if they were shipping and they were. I bet it's probably a misunderstanding on their part.
Probably more SM bullshit. I'll call Boda tomorrow and find out what their SM rep was talking about. I'm pretty sure that I'd have heard if UPS or FDA said it's a "no go" on shipping snus through UPS. I'm calling BS, but I'll get a definite answer by tomorrow.

Apparently Swedish Match hires complete idiots, the FDA can't ban tobacco, and precious I meant from a legal perspective, nasal snuff, snus, dip, and chewing tobacco are all the same tax and regulatory class which means no advertising etc. In the U.S. you have to give something a tax class like class a cigs (less than 3lbs of tobacco per 3000 cigs), pipe tobacco, rolling tobacco, smokeless tobacco, small cigars (some weight limit), and large cigars. They don't care it will look retarded to have a warning this product may cause mouth cancer on a tin of nasal snuff.
