I am a recent Snus convert. (previous dipper)
I found out about Snus online and Northerner was the first place I came across when I was ready to try.
First 5 or 6 orders went as smooth as buying a book on Amazon!
Then suddenly I had to start having it shipped to my workplace so it could be signed for. No big deal.
Then 2 orders ago I get a lengthy delay in shipping because of 1 oos item out of the 10 or so different products I chose. (I am pretty sure it showed as available when I made the order) However, after opening a ticket, Emma explained the 1 item was oos and asked if I was willing to make a substitute. I stated by all mean substitute ANYTHING she wanted. Even send 2 shipments and charge me for shipping. But please send me SOMETHING so I wouldn't have to live on Camelsnus. lol
But I finally got my fill when the order I made a few days ago was about $65.00 of product and when they charged my credit card it was with $40.00 tax!
I thought it was a mistake. I opened another ticket and explained to Emma that surely there was an error and to just cancel the order. She replied back that the order was cancelled.
However, my card was charged for the full 120.00
120 bucks for 65 dollars of Snus? Seriously?
Did this PACT stuff really increase my tax from say $13.00 to $40.00??
The final nail is my credit card has not yet been reimbursed. I am hoping this is just a delay of some kind.
In summary, Northerner was so easy to do business with when I became a snusser, that I really took it for granted. I don't now!
Can someone from Texas verify that the PACT tax really is this severe? If so, I will at least not blame Northerner for the sticker shock. But I got a feeling they messed up somewhere.

I gotta admit that I kinda feel bad for Northerner. They had a well oiled machine when I first became a customer. Ordering from them was like clockwork start-to-finish.
I don't think they messed all that up on purpose. Just no reason to cause problems they didn't have earlier. Nope. This is the net result of the greatest country in the history of the world PURPOSELY demoting itself. I'm 53 years old. I watch this crap in dismay.
Rant over. LOL. sorry.

Congrats on converting and welcome to the forums.
Read through your situation and it does seem like you got way overtaxed...most likely seems like some kind of clerical error, although it is possible the tax is just that high, I'm not sure as I live in Indiana myself (I pay around $0.60 a can from Northerner I believe). The tax is added at the very last page as you are about to make your purchase, so you would be aware of exactly how much you paid. You should have an invoice that tells you exactly how much tax was charged for each item as well.

For once in my life I feel fortunate to live in Ohio. Smokeless tax here is 2% of wholesale which amounts to a couple of bucks a roll. Its not PA but I will take it. I do worry like hell though that it won't stay this way for long. If I was in some of these states I would have to quit, which would likely never happen so I would probably turn into a smoker again which would be horrible.

I don't pretend to understand the ridiculous new tax laws, but it is very unlike Texas.
And it doesn't simply apply to smokeless tobacco sold to a Texan. I can buy that goofy Camel snus for $3.88 total at the corner store. ( which I will do until I get a game plan together)
So from my vantage point, suddenly and without public fanfare, I got told very sternly NOT to buy a specific product from some place in Pennsylvania. Seems like I woke up and my absolute freedom of enjoying the personal freedoms of living life full have been seriously trampled.
I'm stunned frankly.

I agree snakebit - this whole thing is ridiculous! The government acts very concerned if I am trying to spend money on online gambling, tobacco or alcohol but it doesn't give a crap if I need to pay $5 for a gallon of gas to get to work. We still have warrant-less wiretapping going on, we are still imprisoning people without a trial, we are still torturing people, we are still controlling the media in what they can report about in any conflict we are involved in and we are still sticking our noses in other peoples business. The best part is we are paying for all of this through taxes.

hence the reason I sell snus here. there are plenty of people in high tax and banned states/countries that need a different source.Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Maybe I should stock up too...being in NC with two large tobacco companies in state may give me slight edge to anything extravagant since they carry some weight in Raleigh I imagine. But if the price benefit of snus gets out of whack with ciagrettes then I imagine many may be like BrianC and consider, at least in theory, going back to smoking full time. I myself with my limited stash of virtually expired General stuff from the far away mall plus a couple tins of Camel junk has me cut my Newport intake by a quarter
