Trying to switch from U.S. Smokeless to Snus...tried Grov.

Well out of the curiosity that I have for tobacco products along with my desire to quit using dip, I went out on a limb and bought a can of grovsnus loose. Sad to say, I was quite dissapointed by the smell and taste. It reminded me faintly of RedSeal Smokeless tobacco but less salty and more "earthy". If anyone has any suggestions as to what I should try I would appreciate it.

P.S. - My favorite dip is Copenhagen long cut, is there any snus that tastes like this?

-Sorry this post is under 'Stores & Online Shops', it was an accident and I couln't figure out how to put it under the 'Snus & Snus Accessories' forum.

I thought Lucky Strike was pretty rough tasting, but otherwise, I don't think the other snuses I have tried have nearly as much taste as American Dip. Why would you want to switch if you are going to use loose?

I quit cigs with cope initially, and now use Grov daily. Grov would have been my suggestion. Try General or Phantom classic. Both have a much bolder peppery taste than grov. Grov is very rich, but it is still somewhat subtle compared to a peppery snus.

I just tried Grov for the first time. I agree that it is less peppery than General, which I like. I use both, it really depends on the mood i am in. Dont give up, the great thing about snus is that there is a taste out there for everyone.

If its because you want lower TSNA's that you want to switch from dip to snus you can switch to Swedish match snuffs like longhorn natural or timberwolf. They are lower in TSNA than copenhagen. I think the Swedes are just more responsible regarding harm reduction and so the Pinkerton dips are maybe safer than the Conwoods (Kodiak and Grizz) or USSTs (Cope, Skoal and Redseal)....... but I haven't found super good data. A lot of people say Longhorn and Timberwolf are very low in TSNAs. I like Wolfpacks Natural and I also like Longhorn finecut natural. Don't think they have a longcut, but if you are a loose user, then finecut is closer to snus in its texture etc and you can use a portioning tool like a prismaster or icetool or syringe. But longcut you can just roll in your fingers and tuck it up top. Or theres the Hillbilly method of course. As I watch the youtubes, sometimes I wonder what ever happened to a 'little' pinch between your cheek and gum. KTD (kids that dip) try to show off and use a quarter of a can of dip. I think its abuse.
