A roll of bad snus! Ewww!

    Hi guys,

I have just started a fresh roll of Oden's Classic Kanel portion - which expires well into next year - and was surprised to find that instead of the usual consistency and colour of Oden's classic, the portions of this first can were practically black, and sodden. Well I tried a portion, and they just tasted dreadful, like they had been degraded somehow. I mean Oden's Kanel is a favourite of mine, I know what they're supposed to taste like, but after a portion of this batch had been in there for a minute or so I have had to keep brushing my teeth to get the acrid taste out. I hope it's not put me off this snus.

Here is a two pics, the latter with flash, of a normal Oden's Classic (lakrits) on the left, and the weird batch of Kanel on the right:

The roll was from Snus2, with whom I have absolutely no complaints, they provide a great, cheap service to those of us in the EU. I have emailed one of the chaps there asking for a replacement.

    Any theories???!!

Hmmm...sounds like a super fresh roll and perhaps that nasty taste is the ammonia/freshness??? My can of Extreme arrived in that same condition, the portions were so wet that juice could be squeezed out. The can ended up in the back of my fridge and about 2 weeks later they had dried up some and were much better tasting.

This is my experience as well, some brands when very fresh can be almost soaking wet, give it some time in the refrigerator and see if it changes...looks like you received a really fresh batch.

Just curious - does the taste get any better after you have had it in your mouth for a while? I have noticed that fresh snus reeks of ammonia but you can't really taste it.

No, it gets worse. The snus smells fine though, if a little subdued

LOL....I have noticed when I receive new cans of Thunder/Oden's Extreme, they can be so moist that the drip is not always pleasant, then after a few days in the fridge it all gets sorted out

Should I leave the snus open in the fridge?

When I first tried Thunder portions, in my second order, I thought I received a bad batch as they were so moist, that I got a nasty drip that made my throat hurt...I put the cans in the fridge for a few days and then they were fine, I wouldn't leave the top off the can if you do put them in the fridge...just put them in as you would any other can and see if it changes/calms them.

I have been lurking around Snus2 for quite some time now. The got pretty much all snuses thats available for us folks in the EU. (no swedish match)

Have you always got it from there? Prices looks allright, ecspacially the On-sale snus. What about delivery times from them?

Intriguing. A snus you need to calm before you can use it. I might need to get a can of this.

I'm just trying to tell the guy my experience. I have only used snus for 5 months and have had a similar experience.

Started by Marc and Patrick Vogel, V2 Tobacco began manufacturing Swedish snus in Silkeborg, Denmark in 2006, to the same exacting standards that snus manufactured in Sweden is.
