True, but there's a difference between being a prick to somebody, and asking the other members if maybe we can come up with a better solution than repeating the same answers over and over again. And austinb8, don't worry, like I said the search function isn't that great.

An FAQ style thread would be a lot more helpful than trying to make friends. You centralize the information, and instead of a string of 5-10 posts rehashing the same info, newcomers who don't read it beforehand can be given the link. Then once they've read it members can focus on answering any of their questions that weren't answered in the FAQ. It's certainly not a flawless approach, and there will always be those who don't bother to read it, but I think this is something that could help out a large number of people. It's not nice to not repeat answers for everyone isn't a very convincing argument against it either. If you signed up for a calculus class at college, and every class someone new came in who'd missed all the other classes, you'd be pissed if the teacher just kept repeating the same lesson over and over again, even if you were taking the class for free.

Oh, and not all forum searches suck Roo. The Arch forum has a pretty good search feature. I can pull up threads within the first half of the first page with two or three keywords.

I'm kind of anti-sticky. It seems like people never read them, and they end up taking up room at the top of the page. My feeling on the repetitive questions is they can lead to an interesting discussion, take now for example :^D There's really only so much you can talk about regarding snus. We could lock the site as-is, and it would stand as a pretty good wiki for years to come. with people asking the same questions, it can spark something that wasn't intended. That's one thing I like about this place; the lack of rigid order. You never know where a thread will end up until it happens.

I don't always feel like answering questions, but somebody inevitably steps in. If not, I'll answer it if I can be helpful. By taking this approach, people newer to snus can jump in with the answer, and feel like they're a part of the community, and show off some knowledge. They haven't heard the question 10,000 times, so it's still fresh. That's kind of intangible, but I think it adds value to the site. By keeping people involved, it maintains fresh blood that are interested in the site. There's no guarantee the old timers will always be here. We need to keep the old timer pool filled so the inevitable dropouts get replaced. Otherwise, the site could just fade away, and become a fixed wiki.

This approach works better for a site like this, as opposed to a technical forum. With technical forums, there's always something to talk about, because there's almost an infinite amount of ways you can screw something up, or an interesting hack for an obscure, or long standing problem. There's just more to them. We're about tobacco. It grows, gets cut down, water added, and it becomes snus. Not too many variables :^D

I'm not saying I'm right(of course I think I am :^P), but that's my take on the whole deal :^)

Ordering 4 or 5 rolls is perfectly reasonable AFAIC. Snus will always be cheaper today, and you can't guarantee what tomorrow will bring.
I dont know , I would never order 2 rolls again in the same order. i got dinged for 90 dollars in customs for two rolls of expired snus ...

Yea, that depends somewhat on your personal circumstances. I was speaking from the PoV of an American, but other countries may differ.

I agree with LX on the stickies. We try to keep them to a minimum.

now for a bit of self-promotion....

Go to the tobacco exchange and check out post #2. Right now I'm offering buy 2 get one free. Take your pick from what I have in stock, mix and match for a selection. You pick and pay for what you want and I'll throw in something different for you to try. My prices can't compete with the big guys because I have to have it shiped here first and I pay the taxes. I've sent out alot of orders to different countries and not one has anyone been dinged by customs. I have a way to ship thats perfectly legal, its even a bit funny but it works. End result, you get your snus, pay about the same and get free snus. Your mom will appreciate it.

              just sayin.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

If you do a search for ordering online, this thread is top of the list. You also get, pics of your stash, ignorance in the USA, but not much that fits the key words ordering online!

If you do a search for “Ettan” and look at the results, three of the results i can see in the list are "The Cannabis Thread, SnusOn Web Shop Problem, and Pioneer Snuff", lots of other stuff and not much about Ettan! So, if week after week, a new user makes a similar post about Ettan, people have to answer the same question, or they say use the search.

Last week i did a thread about budget los with "budget los" in the title, and I used the keywords "budget and los", and it comes up if you search for it.

I don’t think it’s the search that’s bad, people just need to think about the title, and match it with keywords, maybe have a sticky about how best to start a thread. If we all try and match the title with the key words, the search would work better.
