SnusDirect.com Review - First Order to USA

Hey everyone... first off, it's nice to be back. I jumped on the forum when I first got into snus, asked some questions, got some great answers. Love the community, just haven't been on much since then and I haven't posted in a while. Hopefully you'll be seeing me around more.

I was searching online for some Monte Cristo, found a website that might ship to US - we'll see. In doing all of that I came across snusdirect.com. I did a quick Google on some reviews and came across the review here on SnusOn from ABW, you can read his original post here http://www.snuson.com/forum/showthre...snusdirect-com

So he spoke highly of the site, thought I would give it a go. I'll keep this post updated as the order gets placed, emails get responded to, etc - hopefully everything works out and we can all have another site to add to the bookmarks. So without further adieu...

The Review - January 3rd, 2012 @ 12:09AM EST - Placed my first order. 1 roll, 20 tins. Prices are very reasonable, especially when ordering by the roll. Nice website, easy to follow, good selection (not amazing, but good). Checkout screen is very nice, easy to follow. The site makes ordering multiple single cans a little difficult (basically you have to push a +1 button w/o knowing how many you have in your cart). Everything becomes a little more clear when you get into the checkout screen - you can clearly see how many singles you have ordered. 10+ cans get about $5 bucks off the roll so that's an amazing buy.

Shipping is always a concern and it's about typical of a site that only offers UPS (which, going to the USA, all sites do now). Payed $37.73 for 1 roll and 20 individual cans. Payment processing is embedded into the website so that's pretty slick as well. You put in your information fairly painlessly, ordering processing was quick. I got an email instantly after paying, which is great. After placing your order you are takin to a screen that asks you to "Feel free to email the store owner by clicking the link". So I took the liberty in doing just that, mentioned I read some reviews from snuson and looked forward to receiving my order.

Here's my order, I will update this post as I get more information.

    General Wintergreen White Portion White Portion 24 g $4.06 2 $8.13
    Catch Eucalyptus White Portion White Portion 24 g $4.06 2 $8.13
    Skruf Xtra Strong Portion Strong Portion 22 g $4.06 5 $20.31
    General Ekstra Sterk Portion Strong Portion 24 g $3.51 10 $35.11
    Göteborgs Rapé No 2 White Portion White Portion 24 g $4.06 3 $12.19
    General Green Harvest White Portion White Portion 24 g $4.64 3 $13.93
    Skruf Cranberry Portion Portion 22 g $4.06 2 $8.13
    General Smooth Flavour White Portion White Portion 13 g $4.35 1 $4.35
    Nick & Johnny Crushed Ice Portion Strong Portion 24 g $4.06 2 $8.13

    Sub-Total: $118.40
United States of America (UPS 1.15): $37.73
    VEinteractive: -$11.84
    Total: $144.29

Day One - January 3rd, 2012 @ 6:02PM - Day one is over, have not received any email back from the store owner, nor any email saying my order has shipped. Nothing untypical, just want to keep everybody updated.

Day Two - January 4th, 2012 @ 11:19AM EST - Just got an email from SnusDirect.com stating the following,
"Your shipment from SnusDirect.com has been delayed due to delivery. Your shipment will be sent by tomorrow if all works well, and we hope so. We will compensate you with two extra boxes of General Wintergreen, and sorry for the inconvenience."

So it sucks that my order was delayed a day; however, it's very nice to see them throwing in a few extra cans. General cans at that. The process still would seemingly be going much quicker than some other websites I have ordered from in the past. I will continue to keep everybody updated with edits on minor updates and replies for any major updates.

This is the UPS print out for ABW's order he posted 12-14, seemed easy compared to mine.

Day Three - January 5th, 2012 - Order was shipped via UPS yesterday, it's already in the states. There was no slow down in customs; however, I have a lot of information that ABW did not in the above post. I thought I would print mine out so you guys could take a look. Mine took a lot of turns through Kentucky, anybody know a reason?

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worldport_(UPS_air_hub)

Worldport is the worldwide air hub for UPS (United Parcel Service) located at the Louisville International Airport in Louisville, Kentucky. Although UPS has had a hub at Louisville since 1980, the term was not used officially by the company until 2002, after a $1 billion, five-year expansion.[1] Previously, the project was named "Hub 2000." The facility is currently the size of 80 football fields and capable of handling 84 packages a second, or 416,000 per hour.[2] With over 20,000 employees, UPS is one of the largest employers in Louisville, and in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The facility mainly handles express and international packages and letters. Worldport serves all major domestic and international hubs.....

(if you use FedEx , they have a similar setup but their international hub is Memphis)

Man. You're getting hosed left and right. Late snus and Wintergreen? That's rough man.

Well I didn't actually mean the location itself, if you look at abw's order, it passed through the clearing agency once. Mine went through like 5 times and then the FDA and then the department of agriculture? Just thought it was strange two similar orders would take on such drastic
                changes with customs.

AtreyuKun - well at least it was only delayed about 12 hours, most companies probably wouldn't even let you know in advance. And wintergreen isn't great, I'll give you that; however, if I would have asked for something else it seems like this is the kind of place to pull through.

                        Hey all.

I was checking different forums regarding experiences with snusdirect, and it looks like snusdirect has taken care of its customers. That is great! Unfortunately, I am not one of those persons. Granted, I have not given snusdirect much time to respond to my emails. But how much time do they need? It seems like a day or two is plenty.

So my short story...I live in Mexico City. I once ordered 10 cans from snusexpress using the regular swedish post office. My package came in 2 weeks, which was to be expected, and I was a happy camper. So this next time, I decided to try snusdirect because I heard good things. And they even use UPS. UPS? Great, I thought! Well, not really. My package of 10 cans got caught up in in customs, and they refused to release it. I recently learned that Mexico does not allow the importation of snus. Hmm...interesting.

Well, I was told several times by Johan (the main support guy at snusdirect and a forum member here) that my package would arrive with little to no problems. Really, I thought? Excellent! He said that they never had problems sending to Mexico before, even using UPS. But here I am. Snusless. And pretty damn pissed. I realize that customs can be a pain. And, honestly, here in Mexico, most things are a pain. But....I was told several times that I would not really face a serious issue. But again...I have no snus. Customs will not release it. Period. End of story. And snusdirect has not contacted me back yet regarding the issue.

Now if I wanted to keep a strong customer base about my business, I would surely make good on my word. I would indeed compensate my customer and make sure he got his product one way or the other.

Johan, if you are reading this, get back to me. Send me my snus through the normal post mail. Please do not delay. If you make good on your word, you will have a loyal customer. If not, then I guess I will unfortunately have to spread the bad word. Sorry to sound aggressive. But this is the way it is.

Anyway, i wanted to vent a little, hopefully get some results and let others know what happened using UPS for international delivery.

                        That is all.

                        Be well, snus users.

                        Rick

It's Mexico! Just slip a few pesos to customs and you will probably get your snus along with somebody else's "lost" order.

Haha. The corruption and theft here is very strong. So is the idiocy.

Well, snusdirect did NOT come through for me. They will not ship me another package, even though I was told by Johan that I would surely receive my snus. I feel this is terrible customer service, and I surely will not do business with them ever again. I hope this comes as a warning to some of you reading this that snusdirect cannot be trusted with their word. Peace be with you, snus users.
