Since the early 1800s as far as I know (only my mother's side though). My Great Grandparents were forced to settle in the early 20th century so most of the culture has been lost to me through the family, my grandparents were as typical Londoner as you can get - didn't even like talking about their roots - had it bullied out of them by a society that only accepted conformity and they conformed.
The only real Roma culture I have encountered has been through meeting proper gypsy musicians I have played with as a folk musician. I am incredibly jealous of the amazing culture and sense of community they have retained. I am less jealous of the discrimination they still face on a daily basis in the UK though.
