General Onyx will soon become (temporarily) unavailable to U.S. customers!

As some of you will already know, General Onyx Portion will change back to black portions these days.

Unfortunately however, these black portions may temporarily not be shipped to the U.S. due to some issue with the pigments used.

If you enjoy General Onyx, it is strongly recommend that you place an order for the (white) General Onyx still in stock. It is not known how long it will take Swedish Match to find a solution to the portion problem.

With all the new creations from SM it seems like exactly what it is. Just a short bump.

I spaced that. Then it very well might not be a priority for SM.

How is there an "issue" with the pigments? There were never any issues when General Onyx used black portion material for several years. As wadetheblade pointed out, Grov Black still uses black portion material.

My hypothesis: there's a higher than usual demand for re-released black General Onyx in Sweden, so sales to the U.S. will be restrained for a while.

us government now has to approve ingredients on imported snus down to the dye used on portion material.
ingredients are listed right on the can.
meanwhile, american tobacco contains... ...god only knows what.
              our meat contains pink slime.
and corn syrup is good for you. like vitamins.

Why………..every time there is one of these releases.................from the dye in Onyx portions............ to Gellivare running out of cans to put their snus in ................... do I feel we never get the real story

Why all the cloak and dagger..........its freaken SNUS................just tell us the truth

“Onyx will not be for sale for an indefinite time in the US..........we feel that the Swedish Market is a more stable and certain market over the mid-term..................therefore we are going to insure the availability of this product where its growth potential is more likely and more stable—Thank you SM”

All this diversion and secrecy builds mistrust................and when you feel you are not being leveled with................you begin to feel like you are being screwed

Grovsnus Black portion snus sales to the United States stopped last week until further notice. The return of General Onyx in black portion has also been delayed.

Not a quality issue; FDA decided they don't like the pigmentation formula. Stupid, tax dollar wasting, Chantix loving, FDA bastards.......how they allow half the garbage contained in US food products is still beyond me.

I wonder if we'll ever see it again in the states. I have had enough of those pricks in the FDA!!

Why not keep making the white..............until the issue is resolved

or load a certain number of white portion sheets into the machine each day for the US market

the issue really does not seem to be all that daunting..............a FDA pain in the ass.....yes........production stopping......no

They won't ban Bisphynol A (BPA)m a toxin in plastics that over half of Amricans (potentially) harmfully consume, yet they're going after a dye in a product used by a few thousand?

And there was Onyx White? White white?

Was there a press release or news article announcing this temporary ban? I can't find any info on it. Right now I'm fine, because I have about fifteen cans (of the black portions) and I only use 2 or 3 portions of Onyx a day, so I can last a while. But I was interested in reading the original source.

The OP is the text from a Buysnus email. I don't know of any other notice.
