I just love snus sales! A merchant thread would be awesome. This thread is classic snuson. It started as a simple comment about warning labels and evolved into a gripe match. We even have conspiracy covered. All we are missing now are fleshlights and UFOS.

About a week ago, I read a piece out of the EU by a "we hate tobacco" group that seemed worried that with all the upheaval the TPD might not be in place in time to act on and would thus be delayed a year (not sure if that helps or hurts our cause). They also spun the whole thing as looking promising for an out and out ban on flavoring and for clamping down even tighter on snus (Sweden excepted). It was pure speculation on their part and they said as much.....and I guess our hope is just as much speculation.........So the question is......... does anyone have a legitimate idea of what will actually be presented for vote and what are they forecasting?

Now about that 60 million Euros.....Have Moe give em a call tomorrow and ask what 16 Euros and 2 American dollars will get us.....if it looks good............I'll throw in the 2 bucks.........

At this point, pretty much everything you read about the new TPD is speculation and wishful thinking on the part of the pro and anti-snus people...at least publicly.

John Dalli gave a TV interview very soon after his resignation. He stated that the vote to move his TPD recommendation forward was continually pushed back by "special interests". According to Dalli, his replacement on the Commission had to be submitted by Malta, voted upon, and then made official. By the time that was accomplished and the Health Commission would be able to take up and forward their TPD recommendation to the EU Parliament, the current session would have expired. His conclusion was that the earliest the new TPD could possibly be implemented was 2015.

Meanwhile, Sweden is very angered by the Dalli Scandal. It is uniting elected and appointed officials within the Swedish government in forcing the overturning of the snus ban.

Prior to this, there was disunity on this issue within Sweden itself. Many were satisfied that Sweden was exempt from the ban; as long as they could buy their own snus, there were other things to worry about they felt were more important.

Not all Swedes or Swedish political parties are proponents of any tobacco product including their own Swedish snus. At least at this point, I've never seen Sweden as a whole so focused on removing the EU ban. It appears to have become an issue of national pride once the extent of the Dalli Scandal became public.

For those of us pro-snus, pro-free trade, and addressing the antipathy towards Sweden/Sweden's voice in Brussels, we see this as the best opportunity in years to kill the snus ban.

On the other side, fear is the driving factor. The snus ban is illogical, contrary to accepted scientific fact, and will cause many smokers to die before their time while bankrupting the public health sector. The slightly rational people among the anti-snus extremists know (privately) that Swedish snus is hugely less harmful to a smoker than continuing to only smoke.

However, the anti-tobacco extremists did manage to get a form of tobacco product banned EU-wide: Swedish snus. Many fear that lifting the snus ban and encouraging smokers to use MRTP products would be a big set back to their Tobacco Free Europe 2040 (or is it now 2050?) agenda.

The sudden announcement by the Health Commission of flavor banning and other never before addressed restrictions on tobacco products grew not out of the Swedish situation, but out of an attack on Danish snus by a bureaucrat in the Health Commission which at first appeared to have succeeded. Dalli and company were feeling very cocky and added their secret anti-tobacco wishlist to the draft TPD.

Then Denmark decided they may not be so accommodating. Soon after, the bribery scandal became public and Dalli was ousted. I could go on with points 4, 5, 6, and more, but once the Mods remember how long some of my old posts were, they may consider asking me to leave again!

In a best case scenario, we could have a new EU TPD without the Snus Ban by the end of this year. If not, I think too much public attention has been called to this issue; especially how scientifically there is no justification for snus to be banned while cigarettes continue to be legal in every EU country. Politically and in light of the EU-wide economic situation, Brussels would probably opt to punt this down the road to 2015 intentionally.

Like you, I'm hoping for an end to the Snus Ban by Christmas 2012. Every day continues to bring new revelations, both positive and negative, about what and when the new EU TPD will be. At this point, I'm just trying to keep up. As soon as my comfort level reaches a certain level, I will be writing a piece with my prediction of how, when and why all this is going to play out.

That has been pretty much my take. The Science does not back the anti-snus policy coupled with the corruption of the process coming to such pronounced attention seems to put too bright a light on the TPD for business as usual. Dalli' replacement will need to present a transparent and clean product to the eyes of the watching world..............or kick it down the road far enough that those eyes are watching something else when the vote hits the floor......which is what baffled me about the anti-tobacco group's desire to rush the process............their incestuous myopia and arrogance may be keeping them from seeing the broader field of play that is just outside their HQ doors

Its seasonal man………..right now its fall….so fleshlights are in…………Spring is Hollow earth, the moon is a Nazi constructed deep obit space station (which by the way can be well documented if you take the time to follow some of the links provided here on the site), and UFO’s

Summer is all about Gotlands' refusal to produce their line of los and why it is so damn hard for Gellivare/Landstroms to find square snus tins…………..(this leads to enormous frustration and thus the need for fleshlights by early fall)

Winter is heavy drinking and a controversial banning or two…………..resolving itself in hangovers, lost time syndrome………..and the sinking suspicion that most people on this forum are from outer space…………..and whala………its spring and UFO time again

Northerner have a lot to learn from buysnus. When Northerner started getting shabby, a few years ago, I was forced to use buysnus which was a fantastc experience. Competitively priced snus with a quick and reliable delivery.
I hate bashing Northerner as were all comrades but whilst getting bashed by the EU Northerner is still trying to deliver to the EU but doing it badly, which makes us feel doubly bashed.

I sincerely want Northerner to do well....they must do well. They have to.

As for who makes this site available to us here, I couldn't give a damn as long as I can voice an opinion. Thanks to them that do make it available.

Man, I just placed an order for $200 of snus. Guess who I went to... Yeah, it would've been marginally cheaper through Northerner, but that is what I think of as the uncertainty discount, as in:

When will my order ship?
When will my order arrive?
Will my full order ship, or will there be numerous items that mysteriously go from 300 in stock to 0 in the time I order?
Will customer service even return my messages?

With snuscentral, the only question is whether I want to chill my snus before popping one in. 5 ****ING DAYS EURPOE TO CALIFORNIA

I think Larry may be referring more to past mods than to past owners

Now a lot of this was before my time.....but if memory serves me correctly.....I think the issue was not one of competing visions (Northerner wants its own version of snuscentral) but rather over the advertising/Banner policy of the site......I believe the issue had to do specifically with announcing promos and sales here.

One of the things that we have in the works and have discussed quite a bit is having a merchants thread where approved merchants could come and post their latest deals, contests, product and promotion.....all of which is beneficial info for our members.

Larry would certainly be an approved merchant if he so wanted to be, GN another, Dave at the Snuff store another, Mick and His snus-snuff-bondage mag yet another....... approval is intended only to keep out spam and scams)

This does a couple of things.......it gets our members good to know info.....it keeps it in one easy to find place that you can check as often as you like.....and it keeps the other posts on the site from becoming little more than merchant banners

Now guys......this may happen tomorrow.......or it may happen in two years.......it will move at the rate that all things snuson move for better or worse...............Regardless…..the point is that it may be this wider vision for our site that Larry's post is referring to….not a change in actual ownership (which was never Northerner to begin with)

A website earning money from its traffic? What's the world coming to. I know the value of web traffic and the premium put on tobacco web traffic. I would hope this site made more than its server payment. If that is all it earns then either its owner don't care about money or they don't know much about the value of traffic.

The reason I post about having to wait a month on my order is because I want them to get better. The last thing I want northerner to do is go out of business, at least before someone else takes their place.

I do wonder about forum members who feels the need to defend a company. Of course unless they own it, benefit in some way, its owner is a friend or family or lies are being told about it.
