Price increase on suns effective on Jan 1, 2013

    Good morning,

It was not my intention to be the messenger for bad news but intelligence sources in Sweden are suggesting the government is contemplating (or it has rather decided) to increase the tax it charges on suns. This won t affect customers in the US as they are buying it tax free anyway but for us in the EU this is another slap in the face.
It has become a tradition in Sweden to double tobacco tax every 2 years. In the meanwhile snus prices have increases 100% over the last 10 years. A can of General loose used to costs 24 or 25 kronor in 2001, now it costs over 50 kronor.

    Snus manufactures pls comment!

only vile, low life sorry people use tobacco. These low life types should pay out the butt for snus. We need to raise tobacco prices until no one can afford to buy it any longer. It's for their own good. The honest, first class non-snusing people need tax relief and tobacco taxes work well for that.

The government should take over snus production and sales. Then force snusers to become government certified tobacco users. If certified you would be dispensed three snus portions each day for a $30 fee/tax. The government could send out "collectors" to the houses of "certifieds" who have missed paying a fee. If the human trash want to poison their bodies us normal people should try to help save them from themselves.

I hope this doesn't really happen. Price increases have a way of spreading.

what will happen is that the manufacturers will once again, reduce the amount of snus in a can, to offset the price increase. I think this is a mistake, people will absorb the price increase. We might bitch about it, but we'll pay....*sighs and closes computer*

In 10 years from now most suns cans will contains 1 portion only (ok, ok.. budget brands will come with 2 portions inside).

It's started now ... I just posted this in another thread

I just had a quick look under the EU on Northerner, they have Classic, Brown, and Blue in stock ..... BUT .... BUT .... The can is now 37 grams, that's taking the f'ing piss. I guess the stock at snusline is the old stock because it's still 40 grams, and that takes the piss in my book. It looks like 37 gram cans of los is on the way guys

                  ...

I'm speechless. Wait until the day comes when there isn't any snus in the tin. You'll just buy a tin for $45, and pretend there's snus inside. At least it'll be economical. You'll never run out.

                    Well.... shipping will be cheaper.

Looks like Thunder loose is 37g as well.

Edit: There's a few more listed at 37g and Smalands is listed at 35g at Northerner. Something else I noticed: Nordstrommen Julesnus portions are listed at 92 cents, if anybosy is interested in taking a chance on it

Thunder and extra sterks in general will probably be more commonplace as they don't seem to be taxing nicotine. The problem for me would be the fact that not only does Mr. N live inside a snus can but Mr. Brownstone lives there too.
