    Australian law

Does anyone have any experience with shipping snus to australia(WA)?

I recently moved here and customs seized my shipment.
    Arghhh! Makes me so angry!!!
I used to live in the States where I`d get monthly shipments without any trouble at all....

I live in the USA, but from what I've heard from others, Australia's one of the toughest countries to get snus shipments in.

Maybe you should try import makla instead of snus? ;-)

It's Offroad snus but they called it Makla ant they trade with it 40km from EU Headquarter in Brussels.

        connie, welcome to the forum.

Spend some time looking through old threads, as therew as a bunch of stuff about that a while ago. I vaguely remember that making sure you only order a few tins at a time was key.

Hey Connie, Tasmanian here, as mentioned in those grumpy sounding threads, customs charge a horrific amount of excise.

Last time I tried importing they'd just been 're-structuring' their levels of snus taxation, which meant they'd cottoned on to people seeing it as a cheaper/better alternative to cigs obviously and the gov't wanted a piece.

I used to snus and really liked the stuff. Since then well, I've been on and off cigarettes etc. My girlfriend would kill me if I started using snus again! Still, if I could just get those little portion bags...

Maybe 'makla' might be worth checking out (Though the guy on Mazur's link doesn't seem to reply to his emails!)
The way around that is timing a small parcel when customs would be too busy to investigate what 'makla' is and just send it though. It's a risky game but oh well, not as risky as trading on the stock market at the moment!
            Take care guys and girls.

Australia has a terrible nanny state. A lot of video games get banned there for being too violent. It seems odd because Australians are the most easy going people you can meet. They gave us Neighbours, they deserve some snus!

I wonder what the German government do about snus, they seem very pro censorship too, I'm curious as to whether there is a correlation between that and general nannyism.

The German government is traditionally quite tobacco-friendly, as much as allowed by the EU and the general anti-tobacco-sentiments. In other words: one (not only) tobacco-hating Führer was more than enough for more than 1000 years. Unfortunately, the old politicians who knew this freak and who knew the worth of the personal freedom of choice, are dying out or retired and the EU is more and more taking over the power anyway. But it's still much cheaper in Germany to snus than to smoke and the imports are totally hassle-free.

I really feel sorry for our Australian friends - and the problems, they have to face now, will quite likely become problems for us all sooner or later. I don't want to meet the problems halway though and always hope for the best.

                Cheers!
