I feel like crying right now

Canada post has finally caught on and starting raking the fukk out of snus orders. I started ordering from Northerner in 10th grade to quit smoking, and it used to be you could order 4-5 cans without getting dinged. Now 7 years later every single fukking order gets a 30$ tax on it. I have probably paid over 3500$ in taxes to keep my habit going, it's almost not even cheaper than smoking!

I stopped ordering from Northerner because they went to sh1t recently, now I'm doing snuscentral who have been very prompt but refuse to mark their packages as GIFTS. They claim they are an import export company and they declare their packages to a tee. It's not like it's illegal to ship snus as a gift, are they afraid of the big bad Canada post getting down their throats? It's also very annoying for my snus to be taxed as moist snuff.. not even in the same ballpark as swedish snus. The package says SNUS loud and clear, what the fuk is wrong with these people??

You can stop me drinking, smoking weed, but NOONE takes away my icetool and Ettan los. It's a part of me and I will never quit. Canada post recognizes this and feels they can tax me for something that's a 100% healthy alternative to cigarettes. Makes me sick that a proven safe product gets the same treatment as alcohol or cigarettes.

What's a brother supposed to do?

Move to Alaska? We're like Canada with slightly less colorful money.

Move to BC, and build your stash from a border city like Blaine (or the closest major city to the border: Bellingham)?

... or better yet, move to Washington where it's readily available.

............. Oh, and we've legalised pot. So, there's that too!

.... or you could always feed Polly a cracker. I hear that she helps those in dire need of snus.

.............. and just who is Polly, you ask? It's not rocket science!

(No, it's not me... I'm just a dirty black garbage bird.)

Ya it sucks, I've noticed more of my packages getting caught at customs since around Christmas. I've worked it out to still be cheaper than smoking but with the manufacturers shrinking the contents that won't be the case for long. I've been supplementing my snus use with snuff and cheap dip when I can get it and that seems to cut down on the cost. Anything to keep away from the cigarettes.

As for being taxed as moist snuff: I think snus is still a relatively new tobacco item here - everybody I know had never heard of it when I started - but they have to tax it as something and moist snuff is the closest. Even if it were to be itemized separately I doubt it would be taxed less.

If you had a friend or family member outside Canada it would be cheaper to have it sent to them and then pay them the few bucks to repack it and send it to you.

                AK has weird pot laws:http://norml.org/laws/penalties/item/alaska-penalties
You can have 25 plants in your house, a quarter pounder in your house, but you cant take it in the truck or have it on you outside your house. If you do, its just a ticket.

Been that way for a long, long time. But one Republican governor almost undid that.

That's cool there's a community that helps out

I decided I'm going to try something new. Didn't check the mail today but I have 5 general los on order. When the slip comes in the mail I'm going to walk into the pharmacy, show my ID, and walk out with my package. There is no way Canada post can keep getting away with this, I'm not getting duped anymore somebody needs to take a stand.

For those who say this is stealing/ childish whatnot, It's NOT.. I'm being charged for something that's totally BS, the teenage girl working the counter can't help me. I welcome the Canada post police to investigate me, blacklist me.. Just charge me for the correct product atleast, don't see any other way

Updates tomorrow hopefully (assuming some hero citizen doens't take me out)

Tracer...you do realize you are directing your anger to canada post when they have nothing at all to do with what customs is charging you. Customs officials represent the law of the land. Canada has its rules on importing tobacco so they will charge you if they catch you. You will never win that battle mate. Canada customs charges the same rate for a gift as it does a purchase. To them there is no differance. You are receiving an imported product and you are required to pay the customs fees. period.

quote tracer; snuscentral who have been very prompt but refuse to mark their packages as GIFTS. They claim they are an import export company and they declare their packages to a tee. It's not like it's illegal to ship snus as a gift, are they afraid of the big bad Canada post getting down their throats unquote

Snuscentral cannot legally label their packages as gifts if they are NOT gifts. But that doesn't really matter as either way, gift or not, if you import tobacco products you are required to pay the customs tax.

you might want to PM me for an alternative method.

You might want to rethink this Tracer. I'm pretty sure you will be charged with theft.

I can't be charged with theft, I order snus and get taxed for something completely different. Would you pay a gas guzzler tax for driving a priuss? Same thing!

Snus is not a new product it's been around for 200 years
