Importing Snus into South Africa

Hi there

Can anyone recommend where to buy Snus in Cape Town, or have anyone imported some? Which site would you recommend, and any procedures with Customs?

They only have Jacobsson's Strong here locally, and at the moment only Classic and Melon, both of which I don't like.

Can't help with where to buy it bru, didn't even know you could buy snus in the montherland! Best bet is an online shop like snuscentral or buysnus.

Hi Everyone

Was able to import Swedish snus from an online shop in Sweden. Ordered in on the 16th and it arrived today, the 26th. Through normal Swedish Post, large international letter, unregistered. Just a few pieces of advice if you are doing the same:

1. Keep your order value under R500.
2. Apparently the postal service has less hassles than courier, so choose that option.
3. Don't burst into joyous maniacal laughter at the post office when you pick up the package.

Have realized most the stuff we get here are not stored properly, and is not very fresh. Locally we only have Jacobsons strong, which is wet 14mg/g. I order Thunder Extra Strong Frosted, which is white 16mg/g. Now with the Jacobsons, I just feel calmer with the craving disappearing, after about 5-10 minutes. With the Thunder, it was about 2 minutes, and then it was like, mmm, this UV light in the shop is too bright, 5 minutes later, no it can't be I am imaging things, 10 minutes later, whoo... jippy!!!

It was like I was having nicotine for the first time!!!

So I am very happy, hope the advice helps other South Africans.

This is an old thread, but since people might search for it, thought I'd post an update. The Thunder extra strong plain and the Offroad plain snus is now available in South Africa. Price not too bad either, I paid ZAR58 for a can. Found it at the Cock and Bull in the V&A waterfront just last week for the first time. Not sure if other outlets have it, will update thread if I find it else where. Hope this is not a once off and disappointed they don't have the mint.

Hi Everyone.

I know that this is an old thread, but I noticed it while trying to get some info. Does anyone know exactly what the issue is with using a courier like UPS to import snus into South Africa? Using swedish post in the current state of the local post office is not ideal, as it takes about a month for the letter to arrive.

Also, is there any particular reason for keeping the value under R500?
