Planning a day trip to Göteborg ... advice please!

Right ... I'll admit it. I'm curious - how crazy is it that the price of shipping a large order is the same as the cheapest available price of a return flight to Gothenburg (Göteborg - as in Rapé). I'll also admit that I've done without Swedish Match snus since the beginning of summer and I'm doing my nut in because my posh tastes demand only the best from snus ... and Swedish Match is the best ... full stop!

I can get a return flight to Gothenburg for £28 ... the bus from the airport to the city is £15!!! - and parking at the british airport is probably about the same - so one short bus trip and parking for the day will cost me more than the flights. Which in itself is completely ridiculous given the amount of carbon the flights will create.

That aside ... I want the damn snus.

So - advice please ... Is Snus2 still open on Vasagaden? Does it still stock everything I might want? How much can I bring back. And will I get busted for it being in my hand luggage?

And does anyone else want anything bringing back?

Yes and as much as you want, its legal for personal use, last time I went to Stockholm I brought back 300 cans no problem. FYI the onyx should be with you on Saturday

I'm jealous. I'd love to be able to go to Sweden that cheaply.

It is a crazy situation that it would cost me more in fuel to drive my car to Manchester and back than to get an aeroplane to fly for 1.5 hours each way to Sweden. But one that in my situation I would take ... I have done similarly stupid travelling in the name of music in the past few years. Frankly I don't agree with the politics behind the cheapness of air travel in Europe.

But given that I can do it ... anyone want some snus in the UK?

At Arlanda you can (if you are quick) buy snus at the airport (though not everything) and fly back. where ryan air take you in goteborg the airport there isn't the main one well it wasn't for me and so no snus on sale at airport that i could see.

As far as I can see all the Ryanair flights go to Gothenburg city airport which is a 20km bus ride from the centre. Pretty similar to most smaller city airports.

Are there any Gothenburgers out there who know if snus2 is still in business in the centre of town? Heders?

I live in Gothenburg and I really recommend you to go to snus2 on vasagatan in central Gothenburg. It´s the biggest snus shop we have and prices are good. I hope you enjoy your stay!

Thank you for that advice MrMalmsten - I used to order from Snus2 before they stopped sales outside of Sweden ... I know they are good guys.

                              No problems squeezyjohn.

If you are interested in production you can visit Snusfabriken (The Snus Factory) where you can se production and buy fresh snus. You can look it up here (use google translate) http://goteborgssnusfabrik.com/besok-oss/
