You do realize that northerner is watching this thread and is currently planning a new points/discount system. The better you make Buysnus look the better northerners new system will be for us.

I'm down for that! I am just giving the other side of the proverbial coin. I hope they get into a major price war. But yeah they can both be cheaper, I guess it just so happens that when I'm ordering the prices have been better by far at Buysnus. Pretty sure I ordered a year before that order and actually paid $2.17 a can for 90 cans shipping included but it was some silly sale early december 2012, it was awesome. Like you've said it is best to wait for the right time if you can and take advantage of the deals.....

Exactly!! The best advice I can tell a snus buyer is to wait till your preferred snus goes on a decent sale and stock the hell up. Then wait till the next decent sale and do it again. We all have to try and save a buck whenever we can. Kind of the reason I started this thread, I think the competition is about to begin. . In the past, after price checking, I bet I ordered an equal amount from the mentioned vendors. Personally I don't believe I ever had a problem with customer service from either vendor...so whoever had the best price got my business. And I certainly don't get any special treatment at all....I sure wish I did tho.

Wait!! Buysnus did send me an Icetool brand stainless steel Los tin last year as a freebie with my huge order. I was greatful for that.....but you have to remember I was buying mass quanities of snus from both vendors at the time. So in the grand scheme of things it was a drop in the bucket for them. That was nice of them.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

What I don't understand is why buysnus charges almost $12 a roll more for Jakobssons products than northerner does? And Buysnus shipping goes up the more you buy while northerners shipping goes down.
With the shipping thing that means that northerner is taking a loss by offering you that service. It doesn't make sense but they are basically discounting it the more you buy. Obviously shipping does not get cheaper the more something weighs, its the opposite. To have it make sense they could just discount the snus itself as you add more and more but that could be confusing so it is probably just easier showing them discounting your shipping as you stack more onto your order.

Though I am a die hard BuySnus enthusiast, this is the most important thing to walk away with from this whole discussion.

Competition. It's what drives price points, specials, and bonus systems. If Northerner steps their game up and really makes an effort to try and win back people's business, it's going to make a good system of competition between the two of them.

Competition means for us, the consumer, that we will reap the rewards, as you put it, because it will make stores constantly adjust prices and specials to compete with each other. And that, is a good thing.

The shipping offices are ridiculous. There's no way that it costs $40 to ship a roll of snus. I can FedEx my golf clubs from NH to FL for$100...and that weighs much more than a couple rolls of snus. I understand the snus sometimes ships from overseas, but I still think the shipping prices were artificially inflated, due to UPS being the only ones able to handle the shipping.

International postage is always more than domestic when you use private carriers, you are effectively paying the airfare so the cost of fuel etc is factored in.

I get that...but I have a hard time believing if I shipped a similar sized package to Sweden, that was not tobacco, that it would cost me $40. How were they able to keep shipping prices low pre-PACT? Even though it was Swedish Post, it was still flying...

All the shippers raised their prices right around the time of Pact. It now costs about $35 to $40 to ship 4 rolls of portions to the UK from the USA when using USPS. I imagine UPS is priced very close to that. I think the amount of increase was in the area of $10 for the same package weight.

Also, it seems that all the vendors raised the price of the product at the time of PACT as well. ;(

That's why we saw the total price go up do dam much.

Its all done on weight and covering the overheads. I sent a small package to Australia before Christmas, was about 0.2 pounds, cost me £30 ($50 or so). That's not with ups just a regular mail carrier, it's not the snus vendors fault.

Part of the added price to the shipping is the service of the shipping company acting as a customs facilitator for their customers. The idea is that insure your packages go through customs without delay. They charge you for this........even though I imagine what it amounts to is simply the assurance that their packages are from legitimate businesses

You can say what you want but that's how everybody should be doing it. Also I've never got a referal discount but I'm sure snuffy is making good on my purchases. And yes that's when they had SM free shipping but regardless it was cheap..... Also I always check em all but in my last 2 orders let's say 16 months Northerner couldn't touch it. But as Always as I'm sure any smart consumer is gonna do We will check them out as well. Really didn't need the commercial for it.....
Hell yeah! I get points for every roll you buy and thank you very much! Makes a big difference in my price! Anybody else who never bought from Buysnus can use me as a referral too. Just PM me for the info! So far it's just BigBlue, but that's helped a hell of alot. Thanks again buddy!!!

Another thing effecting prices and the cost of shipping from Sweden: BuySnus and SnusCentral pay extra to UPS to ship DDP (Delivery Duty Paid). Northerner does not, leaving you responsible any duty and registration fees. I looked into it after I got a bill for $8 from UPS after my first Northerner order in ages. I never got billed extra when ordering from elsewhere. I guess I can ignore the bill, and they won't repo my snus, but UPS sent it because Northerner doesn't cover it.
This doesn't apply from Northerner's US warehouse, but most of their stuff seems to ship from Sweden.

That's a pretty big concern for me. Even though everyone says to throw it in the trash, I would really hate to find out I have an oustanding fee to be paid that will affect me in the future. Unless I'm looking to make a rather large purchase of Jak's it just doesn't seem worth it so far. I would really like to be able to get a full odens line or some lenny's, ld, or Wow from buysnus but they don't have it. A bill for 8$ doesn't seem bad but it could be higher. I know our canadian friends experience some sporadic customs charges from snus orders. Maybe I'll send an email over to buysnus and see what their future plans are for odens 29 and 79

It's usually a "wait and see" as far as the buzz and word of mouth goes about it. If there is a lot of talk about it, a lot of people asking for it, and a lot of demand for it, they'll add it. If sales don't permit, they won't continue selling it. They operate a pretty tight business model to make sure snus is always fresh and nothing expires. I haven't seen much buzz for the Oden's 29 and 79, nor many people asking for it, so if you guys want it, you should probably organize quite a few folks to email them and ask for it.

I've neverin all these years received a bill from UPS connected with an order from northerner. Odens yes but never northerner or buysnus. I doubt that anyone else has. I believe Northerner pays that fee as well.
