Has anyone bought General in US stores recently? I picked up a couple of cans at Speedway (formerly superamerica, for those that don't know) and the price has gone up again. First, promo price of $2. Then it was $3, $3.50, 3.75, 4.50, now it's $5. This was in the course of one year. Is this happening everywhere or am I just getting screwed by this gas station?
US stateside General prices

I still want to think it could be the gas station ripping me off though, because our tobacco tax is pretty low here. I can get a can of Grizzly for about $2.50-$3. Either way, I'm going to be ordering online now. It sucks because I really like being able to get it here, and I want there to be a big expansion of snus sales in the US.Originally posted by FrostedI knew he was committed as an actor but I think he went too far in his latest role as Princess Diana

Still pretty cheap here in NC...bought a can of General WP a week ago for just over $2 before coupon on the lid at a Shell station. My problem is I get too bored with just that one brand and don't like any of the other General offerings in the US. Sheetz stores seem to be about a $1.50 more expensive so the prices vary even within 2 miles of one another so you may be on to something with that gas station since I am sure they have the same rep supplying the stores (?)

We spent Christmas/new years at the in-laws'...........so we drove from SC to PA........along the way I saw the same price fluctuation as have been mentioned above..........one place it was the same price as Copenhagen per can.......another it was 2.50...........I think it has to do for the moment with the gas station/chain......however my understanding is that Swedish Match is losing money by selling at these introductory prices in order to break into the market......my bet is that prices start to rise across the board up to something closer to the market normWhen it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

It's going to be difficult for them to hold the market if they charge $5 per can without a roll discount (or even rolls for that matter). It has irritated me to no end that I can order from overseas cheaper.Originally posted by FrostedI knew he was committed as an actor but I think he went too far in his latest role as Princess Diana

I hope nobody minds I post on such an old thread....
The governor of the state I live in jacked up the taxes on tobacco products recently because tax gouging health scam and greed.... so a can of General portion that used to be around $3.00 not including any coupons is now just under $5.00..........
General is the only brand readily available here....there was a cigar shop I went into a few years ago that carried snus but their price was at least $2 a can higher back then.......haven't bothered to check what they have for prices/inventory now.
With the tax rape.....err I mean hike......mail order is probably the way to go now since the per can price is about the same for me ($4.50-4.80 reg price) and of course there is a wider variety available. So even with the 2010 shipping price rape.......err I mean hike I guess this will be the way I get my products.
