EU citizen planning trip to Sweden to get Swedish Match products, need advice!

    Hi everyone,
I have been using snus for a year or so. It got me off 30+ hand-rolled cigs/day and I love it.

I am from Italy (just moved to London a few days ago) and I have always used the few products EU users can get (V2 and Jakobssons).
I look forward to trying some Swedish Match products, so I'm planning to do a cheap ryanair flight to either Goteburg or Stockholm to stock up shopping at a local store.
    My questions are:
    - will the price of the same product differ between different stores? how much is a roll on average?
    - any advice on snus shops close to airports of said cities?
    - is there any limit on how much snus you can take on a flight (I've read there is not, but want to be sure )

    many thanks everyone!!

      Hi gs_frosted,

you will find a wide variety of prices out there!

In a normal shop on the Swedish high street you can expect a pretty high price around 50SEK per can. It's a similar price within the airports too, you can't get duty free snus to the EU from Sweden! If you are going to Gothenburg then you should make for Snus2 who has a big shop on the outskirts (hard to find) and a smaller one in the city centre. Their prices are far more reasonable - and you can buy Swedish Match cans for 35-38 SEK in bulk.

If you can find a cheap flight to a Norwegian airport then you can also get it as cheap as Snus2 within the airport duty free shops because Norway is not in the EU. That would save you on the cost of travelling in to the city and back. However the taxes are higher in Norway and you can find cans up to 90NOK on the high street!

There are no restrictions on amount to bring back within the EU ... possession of snus is not illegal in the EU and it does not need to be declared ... only selling of snus within the EU is banned (apart from in Sweden). If coming from Norway it's the same ... because snus doesn't have a tax code (because it is banned from sale) there is no category for it to be in. That doesn't discount a customs official finding it and getting it wrong and giving you a hard time BTW ... but legally it has no tax code for excise duty - and I can find no law that bans you from bringing it back.

Enjoy your trip! Swedish Match is absolutely worth getting your hands on ... it's generally lovely stuff ... apart from Probe Whisky!

Second what Squeezy said. Get yourself to Goteborg and visit Snus2. Dont bother buying Snus at Skavsta airport its more expensive than in town. Do a search on hitta.se for Tobak before you go to suss out potential shops. Snus is freely available everywhere and normally you can get a discount for a whole roll. In Sweden a lot of shops are actually within mini malls so you may not see the shop you are after from the street.

ps I have a couple of rolls in the trading section.
