So this is my first post on snuson, and I'm going to tll my story and ask for some advice.
So first off, I have been using snus for about 10 months. I was a regular pack and a half smoker for years. I started when I was about 16, and I am now 41. At the age of 37 I got a freak illness and became a triple amputee. For a while I wasn't as mobile, and all that sitting around just made my smoking habit even worse. I had been a dip user (Kodiak) since grade school, so I would occasionally switch out to dip while I was still running around in my wheelchair.
Once I was back on a set of legs and back to doing some sports I enjoyed (Gracie Jiu-Jitsu) I knew that the smokes had to go, so I tried full time dip. That worked for a while, but my lip was getting worse for wear, and a guy at the tobacco shop threw a can of Camel snus my way and told me to try it. It was ok. It didn't burn up my jaw like Kodiak, but it just tasted so.... Blech!
So I got online and researched snus, and found the wonderful world of true swedish snun. I originally went with Northenrer because they had cheaper shipping rates then any online store, $28 vs $55-$60 at other places. I had read some bad reviews about customer service, but decided to give them a try anyway.
I started out ordering Jackobbsons Melon, and made a consistent order every month until just a few months ago. Never had a single problem with ordering, and I got the order from Sweden in usually 3-4 days. It was great! I wasn't smoking, and I didn't have a burned up lip! I still had spit cups lying around, because the dipper in me just couldn't deal with the thought of swallowing the juice. (Which I have now overcome!)
So right about the time of Northerners website update a few months back I couldn't find my Melon in stock, so I tried Thunder Raspberry portions, which I enjoyed.
So I go to order Thunder Raspberry last month, and it isn't even on the US site anymore, as well as Jac's Melon being completely gone. So I hop on over to their Facebook page and ask, and am told basically the fun fruit flavors were no longer allowed to be sold in the US, due to some kind of new rules.
So, I order a roll of Thunder frosted, and a few cans of thunder regular. That order came in fast from the new US warehouse no problem, and shipped for like 13 bucks (To KY)! I soon found that I rather enjoyed the regular much more than the frosted, so I go make an order a few days ago during the weekend sale, get myself 15 cans of Thunder regular, and think I am good to go.
Monday I get my UPS email saying I have an order getting ready to be shipped, and that's that.
Until this morning. I got two emails back to back from northerner, one saying my order was being canceled and refunded because Thunder regular was out of stock at the time of shipping, and an email right after that thanking me for my order, like I had made another order.
So I use the website helpdesk system to ask whats going on, and I get a huge apology about my order being out of stock, and that the duplicate order email was just a technical error. Well, I was bummed, I'm down to my last can and a half of the Frosted, and my nicotine habit will not be denied!
Just for fun, I checked the tracking I had gotten from UPS, and low and behold an order WAS shipped, and is due here tomorrow. The package tracking shows regular stops along UPS's hubs, and was in Lexington as of this morning. I sent the tracking link to the help desk, but haven't heard back again from them yet.
With my order I got a free gift, so I chose some cool cactus candies I have had before. I am SO hoping that I don't open a package tomorrow from the UPS guy with just a box of candy in it....
So am I finally a victim of the bad service from Northerner I heard so much about?
Selection went from awesome to hardly anything.
Everything seems to be out of stock all the time.
Things they say are not allowed in the US are still being sold at other online stores.
I have to call my bank every month to have international charges "turned on" before I can pay for my order.
And now this shipping snafu.
What do you guys think?
Should I find a new snus store, and who else has cheap shipping? Or, do I wait and see if Northerner has really lost before I jump ship?
