UPS... not such a good bet

So I placed my first order through buysnus.com, got a large sampling of snus, and decided I'd splurge and pay the extra for UPS shipping, reasoning I'd get it Monday (it was supposed to, and did, ship on Friday the 12th) and avoid any quality degradation from delayed shipping.

How wrong I was. It shipped on Friday, and hit the Kentucky hub on Saturday with a scheduled delivery for the 15th... On Sunday the scheduled delivery text had simply disappeared from the tracking info, and for the past 4 days it's been sitting there, getting import scans twice daily. It finally made it into customs yesterday, and got another import scan this morning. What a waste of $30 for shipping, I imagine a strong swimmer could have gotten my snus here by now, but it's still sitting in Kentucky. Has anyone else had problems like this with UPS?

I've never bothered to try using the UPS option because that's exactly what I thought would happen. Regular post is fine with me; if I pay that much for shipping, my snus better be here yesterday.

Yeah I figured that would happen too if I tried it. Way too expensive, plus they go out of their way to be over efficient. So by following the bureaucracy to the letter it actually takes longer. All that tracking and scanning, then the puzzled looks of, "hey boss should this be inspected by customs?" And then the stuffed shirt saying, "better to be safe than sorry, leave it for the day shift to take care of." By the time it's said and done you're out of snus.

I guess I'm just lucky. The last order I placed with them I had sent UPS 3 day. Placed the order on 9/1, was delivered on 9/3. Curious though, thruout my tracking, I never saw a "Customs" scan, just an "Import" scan. And it went thru the Louisville center. :?

A lot of that looks like customs b.s. to me...

Yep. That's exactly what those "Clearing Agency" scans are. I've seen them when I have to track a product coming from China thru UPS.

I always pick the cheapest shipping option; it usually gets to me in 5-7 days.

Cheepest seems to be best. I've ordered from Northerner, getsnus and buysnus and they have all taken 4 days to get to me in IL. (plenty fast for me.) I throw what I want to use right away in the freezer for 15 min. and Its cool enouf for me to dig in. 8)
