It's more than i paid for the snus in the first place. I understand a fine, but why is it so much?
Maybe the time interval between the two shipments was too short and they noticed they're both for you??

        Bringing in snus to Canada

I got my first order from Northerner today, a sample pack of 8 tins. It was at the local post office, all I had to do was sign and go, no customs hassles. Just lucky? I wonder now, after reading these stories.

Does Swedish Match sell their snus products somewhere in Canada in shops? I can't understand why they will not ship to individuals in Canada, but we can order those products from other websites. Hmm.

I was about to recruit a swedish friend to send some to me, when my package arrived, with no duties or taxes. 8) As we speak, I am enjoying some Goteborg Rape NO2 white portion. I am happy my friend's swedish girlfriend introduced us to this wonderful stuff.

Also, the thing where you have to put the brand of snus in when you register is sweet.

never, ever, ever, ever call customs to ask how much you owe them. We kinda want our snus to slip under the radar so to speak. The less they know, the cheaper and fresher our product is.

I got a phone call last evening from a market research organization asking lots of questions about tobacco use - mostly about smoking and my awareness of various brands, but I also was asked if I knew about snus and if I had tried it and so on. They are going to send me more questions and info by mail, it seems. Could be a first step toward making snus available nationwide. Or just nothing...

I finally got my 5 tins of Ettan today, although a note was left from the postman to pick it up tomorrow. The note states that I owe $16.95 in taxes on it. This is my 4th order from Northerner, always 5 tins, and the first time I owe any taxes.

Picked up my 5 little Ettans and the Customs Agency took 16.95 from me - they valued the snus at $30 (it was actually $16 I paid for it), stuck on $9.56 duty, $2.37 GST, and a $5 handling fee!

So these tins are actually $6.60 each. Still not bad, but the Customs guys held the order up, it took a month almost exactly to get to me.

Hmm , My last order was for a Snusx bucket , and the mail service left me a lovely note saying to pick up the package tommorow. They made me pay 26.50 in taxes . Now on this order , which is 1 expired roll of los , one expired roll of portions , and 5 cans , I got the same slip . When I called them , they told me taxes are .... 96.58 !!! Crazy eh ? This is in Nova Scotia
