LIL' BROWN SMOKE SHOP - NEW US SUPPLIER SM PRODUCTS

Hi everybody. Remember I talked about getting US suppliers of Snus? I had called Lil' Brown - and since they already have lines into SM, they started carrying General. Looks like they got Regular and some Catch stuff as well. I had asked that they do a trial balloon. So, being the great guys that they are, they started.

    Link:

    http://www.lilbrown.com/

Go to the top left hand and click "new products" and scroll through their first few pages for the line they have.

If any of you are interested, please check them out and maybe even order.

My whole idea is to try and get US suppliers of Snus so as to bring shipping costs down in case we get screwed if this law takes effect and the USPS won't take shipments.

The idea being that UPS and FEDEX will still ship - but getting UPS and FEDEX from Sweden is like 30 bucks an order from Northerner and Buysnus.

Getting UPS from Lil Brown for small shipments is never over about 8 bucks for me.

So there you have it - if they sell OK we can probably get them to open their lines up and get more than just SM products.

I certainly will be using them more and more if they stock more and more variety.

They are good at service - the lady (Purchaser) even called my cell phone back and told me about this.

Let me know or post on it goes for you or your thoughts.

The five types of snus offered by that retailer are the only products that swedish match makes available to several hundred retail stores in the USA. Many of these shops sell over the internet. These shops carry those five [and only those five] including several in the chicago area. I believe that when SM decides to expand the product line, all the existing shops will then carry the additional types. Heres the real problem.......the small display coolers that SM provides the retailer for its snus only holds 5 different snus. For SM to offer any more types would mean that they have to supply the retailers a larger cooler that takes up more counter space. Also the expense of larger coolers is going to slow down the process of getting more variety into these stores.

We need to get online retailers to offer more products, where they is no reason to display them. The biggest problem is getting SM to actually want to market more types of snus in the retail stores. They seem to be stuck with these five types and thats it. Maybe in a few years they will expand product variety to the stores.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Not trying to gang up on you fedora, but PP is right. There are lots of tobacco shops in the U.S. carrying SM products. I really don't see any reason to order from one over the other.

If anything, check this store locator link, and visit or order from one near your home...

There is a reason to buy from a popular store or online supplier. The snus has a higher chance of being fresher.

The USA is a big country. There are plenty of towns that have tobacco shops that don't carry snus. So when someone in a small town finds snus in a store they get excited. I can see why. But I'm thinking that snus has to become somewhat more popular before SM makes a commitment to larger coolers and such. Its possible that SM may come up with a recipe so snus does not have to be refridgerated BEFORE they expand the product selection. Its possible that Triumph is somewhat of a test of this type of snus. It seems to keep rather well not being cooled. We'll see.........

Well, white portions are said not to need refrigeration after opening. But loose snus I think will always need refrigeration to maintain optimum freshness. I don't know, I agree that it'll have to become more popular here in the States before SM will commit to full size coolers like in Sweden, but I'm not sure I see that happening anytime soon. Copenhagen, Skoal and even Grizzly have cult followings here just like General, rL and Onyx do in Sweden. It'll be hard to find that market share here in America.

I've let several people here that I work with try General, and most like the flavor, but the ultra fine texture tends to turn them off. One guy I've converted to portions, but he says he won't use loose for now (even though he thinks it tastes better) just because of the convenience of the pouch for removal.

I'm gonna continue to but from LBSS as I have for years. They have the best prices on the Net for OTP's and their variety can't be beat. They continue to soundly thrash the competition on everything else, I bet it'll be the same with snus in the future.

              Thank you! Toe!!!!

I do understand where you are coming from PP - and I agree with you for sure.

But - it will be the consumers that drive the market - and that's us!!!!

It just happens that LBSS is a very good shop and service on a level with the Buysnus and Northerner companies and their prices are, as noted by Toe, great.

Not trying to start a flame war here - just tryin' to make it easier for all o' us.

I'm glad they carry the product line, since they're only a 2.5 hour drive from me. This could come in handy for emergencies, and I may consider buying from them just to support them at times. However, I have to say that right now I'm strongly considering supporting Getsnus with most of my business, followed by buysnus for my Gotland needs. Getsnus seems to have a sound business philosophy, excellent customer service, and a consistent expansion of their line. I'm glad we have so many companies from whom to order; it's just unfortunate that they necessarily are all competitors for our business.

no problem. I see they are an internet store. And there are plently of towns that don't have any snus so you gotta get it somewhere. It will be interesting to see if they will actually get other brands from SM other than the same 5 they mass market to the USA.

You know, I've been wondering........see puffs of smoke coming from ears.....since GetSnus is tied to SM and, they have expanded the brands they are carrying due to our requests, if Swedish Match will use this information to carry the expansion to the their US retailers. If I had to venture a guess, there has got to be a few snussers near these retailers that purchase snus or else they wouldn't carry it. I personally have 3 tobacconists within a 30 mile radius of me but, wouldn't buy from them simply because I can't justify paying $4.95 USD for a tin of General Lös that's a month past the Best Before date. It may benefit others though! Just a thought!

Isn't getsnus a US supplier? Why not just order from them? Prices can't be beat if you go with rolls.

Huge bump incoming. No other active thread on this online shop.

There was some ruckus in the new Camel Snus thread in early August about this supplier having the cheapest General brand prices by the roll (on par or better than buysnus) and with decent shipping rates. Customer service apparently confirmed good expiration dates. Can anyone who ordered review here?

Also it appears they don't collect destination state taxes...

I have to give Lil Brown two thumbs DOWN, as a matter of fact, I could care less if that company were to tank. Ordered from LB over a year ago (PRE-Pact) with no problems, order showed up within days via UPS. The second order (still during pre-pact days) however was cancelled by LB stating that UPS can not deliver to my military base address. Puzzled, I contacted them and told them about the first order going through but the rep I spoke with said that a coworker made a mistake and shipped that order to me when they shouldn't have. Remember, this 'accidental' order had no problems reaching me. UPS comes through my hood daily and brought me buysnus, rollyourown & getsnus packages so LB is smoking something! They are the ONLY company that has flat out refused to ship to me yet back then, they claimed to 'support the troops' and ship overseas, but if you live on a domestic base, they didn't want your business. F Them. Sorry for the rant, hopefully you all know that I am not one to bitch about companies but I couldn't resist this time and wanted everyone to read about my experiences.
