What's wrong with Northerner???

I ordered on northerner.com as I do for more than 2 years.
For the first time I switched from UPS to Swiss Post service.
Rubbish !
Order placed on 12nd of April, delivered in France on 4th of May.
Never again...

I must admit I eventually switched from Northerner when they started to use Swiss Post instead of Swedish Post. I was a customer of Northener for many years and can remember back in the early days when you could call them about your orders (I would imagine they weren't quite so busy in those days before online snus sales took off in the way they have) They did say they were only initially trialling it but they appear to have gone with it permanently. A few orders took about a week to get from Sweden to the UK (as opposed to an almost guranteed 2-3 days via Swedish Post) and one never arrived at all (although Northerner very generously resent it for me) From what I've read members in the US don't seem to have these problems with Swiss Post. Possibly UK customs treat Swiss Post differently to Swedish Post as Switzerland isn't a member of the EU. Sounds like France is in the same boat.

Not quite true. About a year and a few months ago, Buysnus switched to Swiss Post and it was a nightmare, my only bad order ever from Buysnus. Buysnus switched back to Swedish Post within 2 weeks they were having so many problems.

Sagedil - Just curious do you receive your shipments from Northerner to the US hassle free via Swiss Post but you had problems when BuySnus trialled it?

Also when I looked at Northerner last night it only offered me shipping options of UPS or Swiss Post (no Swedish Post option) Is that maybe because I am in Europe or is that all that's offered to everyone now?

No, it is Swiss post for everyone now.

I actually had never realized that Northerner switched over to Swss Post until the other day. It has only been the last couple of orders that I switched from using primarily Buysnus, since Northerner dropped their prices so much. But last order made it, probably about 8 days, what I expect my current order will take. If I get it tomorrow, then it has been between 7 - 9 days.

I promise to confirm when it gets here.

So just a follow-up. got package today no problem, sent via Swiss post. exactly one week from the day Northerner switched my order over to showing shipped.

Thanks Sagedil. Looks like Swiss Post from Sweden to the US doesn't extend delivery times then. Looks like maybe just Swiss Post to the EU that seems to suffer from delays compared with Swedish Post. Maybe it could be a customs issue (EU to EU post maybe is 'waved' through by customs to a degree as opposed to international mail) but would imagine whether Swiss or Swedish post shipping from Sweden to the US would be treated as international mail and so you wouldn't notice any difference in delivery times.

Actually, Swiss Post seems to add a day or maybe two to my end. But they just aren't as good as Swedish Post. Do some googling on Swedish Post and you will find all the awards they have won. they are considered to be one of the top national shipping services anywhere in the world.

But you are right. For orders to the US, all they have to do is take package from the factory straight to the airport. But even then, they don't seem to be quite as good at it as Swedish Post. Then again, probably why they are cheaper than Swedish Post.

I am really unhappy about this.

I was going to put in an order at Northerner today but instead of being able to choose between Swiss and Swedish post I could only choose Swiss or UPS.

When Frank said that they were trialling the Swiss post I thought I'd hang on until the trial period ends and then start splitting my orders between Northerner and Buysnus again.

Clearly Northerner has decided to use Swiss post exclusively (judging by my lack of options), which means that I probably won't order from them again. Or at least until they start offering Swedish post again.

This is unfortunate because I do think they are a great company and their new bonus point system is really cool.

However, I can't be bothered to deal with the hassle of dealing with customs, delayed shipments etc. when I can just put in my order from Buysnus and be sure that I will receive my snus in 2-3 days. In a year and a half of ordering from Buysnus every one of my orders have arrived within that time frame.

Northerner was just as good so I honestly don't understand why they switched over to Swiss post.

Money. My guess is it's a bigger issue as they try and carve out market share with lower prices on the snus.

But in the end, no company is gonna be perfect for any one person all the time. As conditions have changed, I have switched around who I order from. I am loyal, to a point, but in the end, I will use whatever company best suits my needs at that moment. Maybe next year, I will be using Getsnus.

I would prefer Swedish post, but Swiss post seems to be working well enough getting my snus to the states. I find they are slightly slower, but that isn't enough of an issue for me as I always order when i am down to 20 cans left, so timing isn't a real issue for me

I have ordered from now few times and there has always been an option to choose Swedish post or Swiss post (plus the UPS). Packets have also arrived less than 4 days in total so am very happy with them.

I have been ordering snus from Northerner since January and have been very happy with them. I ordered Thunder frost when it was fairly new and it took them two weeks to get it, but they shipped all of the other order so it was no problem. All other packages have taken exactly 7 days to get to Oregon. My most recent order had only ups or swiss post so I'm curious to how long this shipment will take. I would imagine that Northerner is getting bigger and busier as snus is growing in popularity here in the US, so I understand that they are in a growing phase. There have been changes and a few bugs with there site, but they are constantly ironing out the problems, and I forsee a very user friendly website in the future. I hope they continue there excellent service as I feel they have done a great job. There will be many more orders from me in the future

Ordered two rolls of Claq Qui and 5 Odens Extra Stark on the 13th from Northerner. It was shipped on the 14th and arrived today on the 18th in London Swiss Post.

You cannot beat service like that. Bear in mind that those 4 days were a weekend.

However, and Northerner I realise that this is out of your control - I'm still awaiting my Icetool portion box which was ordered on the 25th April so they obviously don't keep a stock of these.

So now my freezer contains 19 Claq Qui, 10 Odens Extra Stark, 2 General Extra Stark and 3 Skruf Stark. My beginners error of 10 Oomphs and 10 Mocca Mint Minis were sadly binned today. What a waste.

Don't think I'll be ordering for a couple of months now.
