    Getsnus

I don't like getting a roll or half roll of snus that is about to expire.

So I call them up and the girl puts me on hold, then she gets back on the phone and tells me the date really doesn't mean anything and that it isn't an expiration date.

That kinda fired me up because technically she's right, but it just doesn't seem to be a good company practice to sell this stuff to customers when it is so close to the best before date.

This was a reship to correct an original order they messed up too. So now I have this snus that is about to expire and a box I have to return to them as well.

Well, maybe I'm off on this one. What say ye? And what should I do.....besides keeping it in the fridge...... to keep this stuff good for the next couple weeks???

What did they mess up on the first order? I don't have a lot of experience with Getsnus, but it's kind of weird that they would have you send it back. Most places won't bother taking something back that is perishable, whether it's on your dime or not.

They sent me a white instead of a regular.

They sure enough put a return ups mailer in with the box too.

Don't worry too much about the expiration dates. They're liberal estimates. I still enjoy snus I've had frozen for years.

I do agree with you though, they know going in that they're selling near expired merch, they should have a protocol for times where they get called on it, and it shouldn't be that they tell you to ignore the dates.

Wow, they put a UPS return mailer in with your order? what, just in case they messed it up?hhhmmm...
I don't mind getting snus that is about to expire, I purchased some M by mocca that will expire on the 16th, and some Pall Mall that will expire on the 1st of April, But for $0.87 a can, at least Northerner lets you know and sells it cheaply.

I just ordered from getsnus like two weeks ago, and i've been ordering from them for a while, and in all of my orders all the cans have been at least 4 months from their best by date...

Guess it depends on the brand. Couple of the other brands in the same original order I placed expire in June.

I got a follow up phone call back from them. The guy was super nice and offered to send me a couple cans for my troubles. And I really didn't want to be a pain in the ass, but you just hear so much about the dates and the fact that this stuff is actually considered a food.

And as I told the dude, from my experience, Ettan and Roda are two examples of snus that DO get raunchy past the dates. Well, he says as long as any snus is in the fridge and not cracked, everything should be just fine. Whether or not this is the case, the date is on their for a reason and it isn't a coincidence either when I saw they had a fire sale on that same brand recently. So we will see. I'll go on his word and see what happens.

It's still a bad buisness pratice to sell rolls or half a sleeve without telling the customer before hand. Especially when they are paying full price for the stuff.

In that case Northerner and Buysnus owe me some cans.

My last shipment from northerner was 3 cans Odens Kanel exp Aug 09.

However the Los expires this month in a week, and my order arrived 5 days ago.

In all honesty those dates really dont mean anything. If anyhting you lose moisture, not flavor. Even then, freezing snus leads to some los of moisture as well.

Ive been using some Gotlands Gul that expired in Jan of this year and its march and it tastes like it always does and its jsut been in the fridge the whole time.

I just ordered some Gotlands Julesnus Los from getsnus and I know its either very very close to experation or past but I really do not mind. Ive never noticed any flavor differences.

I knew that goin into purchasing it seeing as the major swedish retailers no longer carry Gotlands Julesnus but it will be just as good, plus I loved the Julesnus Portions I had.

I agree that they should be held accountable but how often do you see best by dates on any tobacco.

Dip sits on the counters for god knows how long and so do cigs and people do not care.

I believe its more of a " Enjoy that straight from the factory snus flavor before xx/xx/09. "

                  Just like beer.

Sweetwater has a consume 3 months before a certain date for best Freshness but it tastes the same 3 months after that date aswell.

You have nothing to worry about, all companies do it to move product that needs to sell to make profit and they are all guilty for selling snus as close to experiation date as possible if they have to to move merchandise.

Same here. Well maybe more like 3+ months. And it was things like jakobsons, which everyone says they hate, so if anything that should have been near expiration.

I haven't had any mess ups with my orders yet either.

Nor have I had a UPS mailer in my orders.

I'm assuming that everyone knows how to read the dates on snus cans (hint, it's different than in the U.S.)

If you aren't sure, then go to the bottom of this page for an explanation:

They recently sent me a can of N&J East instead of west. I called the day I got the order and let them know and they were extremely nice about it and are sending me the proper can with a return label for the N&J east to be sent back. I don't se any problem with that at all. No money out of my pocket for returning and good customer sevice. I really like getsnus and if the pact act ever gets passed they might be the only company us americans can still order snus from, with the shity taxes applied of course.

I've never ordered from Getsnus. How much tax do they add?

                            None.

Might be different if you're actually in PA, though...

It's a 'best before' date, rather than an expiration date. You wouldn't want to use milk that's more than a few days past it's date, but the snus should be ok, if you refrigerate it. And if you're a freezer like me, it kinda becomes moot.

I agree though, they should make it clear that the dates are close, and maybe sell them at a discount.

I got a can of Röda from them that expired the next day. Ah well, I just opened it that day and used it first. A can of lös takes me 4-5 days or so to go through. It was fine.
